What to Expect in this Role:
You will be working with a team of professionals in one of our Hunter Crescent Group Homes in the Northeast area of Calgary. On this team, you will be supporting a variety of Individuals with complex behaviours and disabilities. Your expectation is to support our individuals in becoming independent and having a valued role in the community. You'll be working with a culturally diverse team of 12 members to provide support to adults with diagnoses including developmental disabilities, autism, and ADHD in a group living setting.
The individuals living in this home range in their levels of independence as well as their levels of communication. Staff will be provided with Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training if they do not currently have it, and will be expected to be competent and confident to use CPI skills as needed, as situations could occur when verbal de-escalation or holds are required. With this team, you will provide these individuals with direct support to help them meet their goals and live their lives to the fullest. You will follow the individualized support plans for each individual to help them work towards and achieve their goals. The Individuals you work with may require personal care, such as driving and accompanying them to medical appointments, communicating with guardians, assisting in ISP planning, attending community outings, or providing assistance with their daily activities.

Provide environmental, emotional, physical, and behavioral support
Assisting with daily housekeeping chores, including cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc.
Engaging and participating in activities like swimming and community outings with individuals
Proactively identify and develop solutions for client concerns
Learn the behavioral support plans to understand client needs better
Complete the required client documentation effectively
About you:

Schedule & Benefits:
Our Coville home is hiring a permanent 24-hour position. The schedule is Thursday to Saturday 11:00 PM to 7:00 PM.The starting rate for this position is $21.19/hour. Mileage is reimbursed at $0.50/km. Cost shared benefits will begin after 3 months’ probation. This role includes 4% vacation pay plus an additional 5 flex days after the first 3 months of employment. All regular staff are eligible to pick up additional casual hours at any of our locations outside of their scheduled hours
Minimum Requirements:
Minimum of a Canadian Certificate/Diploma in the Human Services or Disability sector (equivalencies will be considered, programs completed internationally may require a WES or IQAS assessment)
Intermediate computer skills and MS Office proficiency
Valid class 5 driver’s license and a reliable vehicle with minimum $2,000,000 liability insurance by time of hire
Comfortable supporting Individuals with diverse disabilities and complex diagnoses
Preferred Requirements:
One-year relevant experience in the human services field
Previous experience working in a group home setting
previous experience providing personal care
Previous experience working with autism
Knowledge of CPI, de-escalation skills, sensory needs and patience
Current trainings including First Aid/CPR, Medication Administration, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Abuse Prevention Response Protocol, Positive Behaviour Supports
