Software Tester (Commercial Insurance)

This hybrid role based in Markham involves both manual and automated testing, stakeholder collaboration, and the creation of robust QA strategies in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Responsibilities:
• Design and execute test strategies aligned with project objectives.
• Create detailed test plans, estimates, complex test scenarios, and test cases.
• Review user stories, requirements, and design documents to provide QA feedback.
• Report status updates and escalate critical issues to project teams and stakeholders.
• Contribute to automation testing practices and overall QA strategy.
• Maintain risk-based regression test suites to ensure consistent quality.
• Lead test artifact walkthroughs and facilitate review sessions.
• Collaborate with technical and non-technical team members.
• Ensure test deliverables meet quality standards and deadlines.
• Support compliance with internal QA standards and IT controls.
• Participate in continuous improvement of QA tools and processes.
What you will need to succeed:
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (nice to have).
• 5+ years of direct, hands-on experience in software testing.
• Experience in commercial (property/casualty) insurance industry.
• Proficient in both manual and automated testing methodologies.
• Strong verbal communication and technical writing skills.
• Proven ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ownership of outcomes.
• Collaborative team player with a positive, solution-oriented approach.
• Experience with Selenium test automation (nice to have).
• Experience with Guidewire applications (nice to have).
