The Role
Reporting to the Manager, Communications, the Communications Coordinator is an integral member of the Marketing & Communications team, supporting the creation and execution of written content across a wide range of platforms and initiatives. This role plays a key part in helping tell the Foundation’s story, enhance donor and community engagement, and strengthen WCHF’s overall brand and voice.
The ideal candidate is a strong writer and creative thinker who enjoys collaborating with others and contributing ideas to help refine and elevate messaging. They are detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to take ownership of projects while learning from and supporting the broader communications strategy. This role offers an opportunity to grow within a high-performing team, develop new skills, and play a meaningful part in amplifying WCHF’s impact.
Core Deliverables:
The Communications Coordinator is responsible for:
Supporting and contributing to development of WCHF materials, including:
Donor Proposals, Cases or Support and Impact Reports
Events communications (such as: speaking remarks, presentations, event and program collateral)
Donor public campaign materials (such as: newsletters, e-blasts)
CEO communications (such as: op-eds, team-wide communications, speeches)
Organizational documents (such as: Annual Reports, Board of Director reports and memos)
Project managing marketing and communications materials from beginning to end; accountability of final outputs of materials. Working with internal partners across the Foundation, Hospital and external vendors.
Coordinates team projects, including timelines, assets, stakeholder reviews and project management software administration.
Act as resource to colleagues across the organization.
Collaborating with colleagues across WCHF and WCH, including medical and healthcare practitioners and patients, to identify and help tell meaningful stories that inspire philanthropy.
Assisting with content planning and coordination to maintain clarity on timelines, deliverables, and next steps.
Supporting the development and maintenance of templates, style guides, and processes that ensure best-in-class, consistent, and effective donor and public communications.
Qualifications and Skills
Post-secondary education in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English, Public Relations, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
1–3 years of relevant experience in communications, preferably within a non-profit, healthcare, or fundraising environment.
Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with an ability to tailor messages for different audiences.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.
Experience creating content for digital platforms (email, website, social) is a requirement. Familiarity with donor communications or storytelling within a philanthropic context is an asset.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with design or email tools (e.g., Canva, Mailchimp, or similar) is an advantage.

Salary Range: $50,000 - $60,000 per annum, eligibility for merit pay and comprehensive healthcare benefits including Healthcare Ontario Pension Plan enrollment.
