We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled and detail-oriented Transportation CADD Technician/Technologist to join our team in our Halifax, NS office!
As a Transportation CADD (Computer Aided Drafting and Design) Technician or Technologist at CBCL, you will play a crucial role in the design and drafting of transportation infrastructure projects, within CBCL’s Transportation Planning & Engineering Group. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of road design principles, excellent attention to detail, and high proficiency in CADD tools. You will work with an established team of professional planners, engineers and technologists in developing innovative multidisciplinary design solutions with an emphasis on client satisfaction. More specifically, you will:
Your Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the development of conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs and drawings for transportation projects, including roadway systems, bridges, and other infrastructure elements;
Support the day-to-day activities of projects from inception through engineering, construction, and contract administration;
Prepare technical reports and opinions of probable cost;
Carry out data collection activities including topographic survey, 3D scans and infrastructure investigations;
Provide resident services on construction sites with the support of senior team members, as required; and
Site observation and review.
Your Capabilities and Credentials:
A diploma in Engineering Technology or other equivalent training that demonstrates the ability to use the software required for this position;
More than Five (5) years of experience;
Experience working in a consulting environment would be considered an asset;
Strong capability with Civil 3D and AutoCAD software with above average drawing production capabilities. Knowledge of Infraworks and other 3D conceptual design software would be considered an asset;
Ability to complete quantity take-offs;
Develop engineering drawings packages in accordance with standards and best practices;
Familiarity working with GIS, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook;
Ability to effectively communicate and thrive in team environments;
Proficient at multi-tasking and work diligently to meet time-sensitive deadlines;
Hold a valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites;
