The Director, Finance will play a pivotal role as a strategic Finance Business Partner for front-office leaders at Mackenzie. Reporting to the Vice-President, Finance, this role is responsible for delivering insightful financial analysis, forecasting, planning, expense management and reporting to support informed decision-making. This role will oversee all aspects of financial planning and analysis (FP&A) for Product & Solutions, Investment Management, and Retail and Institutional Distribution, ensuring that the organization has the financial insights needed to support both operational efficiency and strategic growth
Responsibilities:
Forecasting and Planning
Lead annual and quarterly forecasting and budgeting, collaborating with business units to ensure accuracy and alignment with strategic objectives.
Monitor performance, provide actionable insights, and recommend improvements.
Optimize forecasting and planning approaches, tools and processes to improve effectiveness
Business Partnership
Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders, supporting expense management, surfacing risks and opportunities, and providing financial modeling for key decisions and ad-hoc projects.
Expense Reporting & Insights
Lead the development and delivery of financial management reporting and financial presentations to senior leadership
Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards to track financial performance and progress against strategic goals.
Ensure that reporting systems and processes are efficient, automated, and aligned with industry best practices
Expense management
Partner with senior leaders to ensure expenses stay on plan
Identify risks to annual expense plan and levers to close any gaps
Oversee preparation of various accruals, journal entries, reconciliations, and analysis to maintain integrity of financial statements
Develop financial models to support business decisions on various ad-hoc projects as required
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
MBA, CFA and/or accounting designation, as asset.
7-10 years of experience in financial reporting, management reporting or a related field Wealth management or financial services experience
Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities
Strong communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills
Expertise in financial modeling (Excel, VBA, Power Query, PowerPoint)
Systems knowledge (ERP/SAP, budgeting, data mining)
Ability to influence and challenge business leaders as a trusted advisor
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills
