Job Description: This is a specialist position. The social work incumbent will be required to use high order knowledge and clinical expertise and strong interpersonal skills to research, develop, implement and evaluate programs directed at youth in the Young Offender system. The program will be integrated with other key community/government agencies in the former Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region and Southern Saskatchewan.

Education
Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)
Masters Degree in Social Work preferred
Experience
Expert knowledge of normal adolescent development and psychopathology.
Superior knowledge of criminogenic factors in juvenile offending, including comprehensive knowledge of research regarding factors which contribute to violent behaviours committed by children and youth.
Expert knowledge of best practice or empirically based models of assessment, treatment and case management of antisocial youth.
Extensive knowledge of community resources.
Knowledge of the aboriginal culture.
Experience working within a multisectoral framework and ability to work independently and in a team.
Knowledge of the Mental Health Services Act, Child and Family Services Act, Family Services Act, Youth Criminal Justice Act, and the Criminal Code of Canada.
Comprehensive knowledge of legislation that affects the treatment of youth in both mental health and correctional setting.
High order skills in teaching, supervision and community consultation.
Ability to design and conduct inservice training for other professionals.
Experience in clinical program development and evaluation.
Highly developed written and oral communication skills.
Ability to identify, collect, analyze data and provide reports on program outcome.
Ability and willingness to travel.
