You will ensure that all designs and documentation are fully aligned with applicable industry standards and codes, including ANSI/TIA, BICSI, NEC, CEC, OSHA, and other relevant national standards. Vendor and Contractor Coordination You will coordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure that all equipment and materials provided meet the established design specifications and project requirements. Maintenance, Troubleshooting, and Operations You will support telecommunications and related systems through managed service portfolios, providing preventative maintenance, emergency response, troubleshooting, and underground locate program services as needed. Cost Estimation and Budgeting You will prepare cost estimates, budgets, and proposals for telecommunications and engineering projects, ensuring financial accuracy and supporting effective project planning and delivery. Continuous Improvement and Development You will stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to ensure that your designs are forward-looking and innovative. Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (required). BICSI OSP or RCDD credentials in combination with 5+ years of relevant field experience OR EIT Certification (preferred). OSHA training (preferred for certain business lines). Class 5 Driver's License and legally permitted to drive in Alberta, Canada. Minimum of 5+ years relevant engineering experience in telecommunications and specifically fibre optic outside plant networks Advanced proficiency with GIS software (e.g., QGIS, COMSOF AutoDesigner), CADD (2D/3D), AutoCAD, Revit, and advanced desktop applications. Advanced understanding of outside plant fiber optic network design, implementation, and operations, including FTTP, linear transport networks, and ITS. Experience with advanced data analysis, technical writing, cost estimation, budgeting, and proposal preparation. Proficient in conducting site surveys, inspections, post-construction QA, and troubleshooting. Knowledge of and experience applying industry standards and codes (ANSI/TIA, BICSI, NEC, CEC, OSHA, etc.). Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills to engage with diverse teams and clients. Excellent time management, independent working ability, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to provide technical guidance to junior team members and collaborate across design disciplines. Physically able to perform fieldwork, including walking on uneven terrain, navigating construction sites, and climbing in and out of ditches, as required to fulfill the essential duties of the role.
