Job Summary: The Snow School Supervisor supports both the administrative and on-hill operations of the Snow School. This role is responsible for supervising ski and snowboard instructors, ensuring high standards of safety, customer service, and instructional quality. Working closely with the Snow School Manager, the Supervisor oversees lesson delivery, staff performance, guest interactions, and daily scheduling. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a passion for creating positive guest and staff experiences.
Roles and Responsibilities: This individual is responsible for but not limited to the following:
Leadership & Supervision
Supervise ski and snowboard instructors by providing guidance, mentorship, and support throughout the season.
Oversea assignment of instructors to lessons based on qualifications, teaching strengths, and operational needs, ensuring optimal guest experiences.
Provide ongoing performance monitoring, offering constructive feedback and corrective action where necessary.
Lead by example on and off the snow in professionalism, guest service, and teamwork.
Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, and retention of qualified and competent instructors.
Conduct safety talks, and daily briefings to ensure consistent communication and team alignment.
Support instructors with teaching strategies, student management, and personal development goals.
Participate in and support conflict resolution between staff and/or guests when required, escalating issues appropriately.
Operations & Scheduling
Manage day-to-day on-hill operations including instructor scheduling, lesson area setup, and program execution.
Ensure instructors are deployed efficiently and effectively throughout the day, based on lesson demand and instructor availability.
Maintain up-to-date records in relevant systems (e.g., Dayforce, Northsoft), including instructor hours, certifications, and performance notes.
Assist with the development, delivery, and monitoring of lesson programs for all ages and ability levels.
Training & Development
Contribute to the planning and delivery of pre-season and in-season training sessions.
Mentor instructors on technical teaching skills, safety procedures, and guest interaction.
Evaluate instructors based on in-lesson observations and guest feedback, providing coaching and performance evaluations as required.
Guest Services & Safety
Serve as a visible and approachable leader for both guests and staff, providing support, clarification, and issue resolution when needed.
Ensure guest satisfaction by maintaining high standards of service and responding proactively to questions, concerns, or complaints.
Promote and enforce safety standards for all staff and guests, acting as a role model in risk management and emergency procedures.
General Duties
Maintain all required certifications and stay up to date with industry standards.
Attend mandatory pre-season and corporate training sessions.
Assist in other departments as required by operational demands.
Instruct lessons (private or group) when needed, based on demand or staffing levels.
Support the setup and teardown of lesson meeting areas and other Snow School facilities.
Key Qualifications:
Minimum PSIC, CSIA or CASI Level 2 Certification (Level 3 preferred).
CSCF certification considered an asset.
Minimum 2 years of instructional experience in a snow school environment.
Previous supervisory or team lead experience preferred.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to coach and mentor others.
Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
Technologically proficient with experience using scheduling and payroll systems (Dayforce, Northsoft preferred).
Fluent verbal communication in English; bilingualism is an asset.
Able to lift up to 20.4 kg (45 lbs) and perform physically demanding tasks.
Comfortable working outdoors in extreme weather conditions for extended periods.
Able to work weekends, holidays, and evenings, with flexibility based on business needs.
Available to cover shifts and assist with operational coverage as required.
Ability to work as part of a team, and independently.
Must be flexible and available to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and during peak periods (e.g., Christmas, March Break)

Approachable, empathetic, and a strong communicator
Must provide your own Red (logo-free) snow pants, CSA Z263.1, ASTM F2040, EN 1077, or Snell RS 98 certified ski/snowboard helmet, and ski/snowboard equipment
Other uniform items in accordance with Chicopee’s policy
