Position Summary:
Stqó:ya Construction is seeking a detail-oriented and organized bookkeeper to support the Controller with the company’s financial operations. This role is responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, reconciliations, and maintaining accurate financial records. The Bookkeeper plays a key role in ensuring the integrity of financial data and compliance with internal policies and external regulations. This position is ideal for someone with construction industry experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable: Process vendor invoices, verify accuracy, match with purchase orders, and prepare payment runs.
Accounts Receivable: Generate and send customer invoices, follow up on outstanding accounts, and apply customer payments.
Prepare and process employee timesheets, assist with payroll entries, and ensure compliance with payroll regulations.
Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, and other balance sheet accounts.
Post journal entries and maintain accurate records of all financial transactions.
Assist with cost allocation to projects, track expenditures, and support accurate project reporting.
Maintain organized and secure digital and paper filing systems for financial records.
Provide data and documentation to support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.
Ensure transactions adhere to company policies and applicable regulatory standards.
Prepare schedules and provide documentation for internal and external audits.
Other duties as assigned by the Controller.
Qualifications:
Diploma or certificate in accounting, bookkeeping, or related field.
Minimum of 2 - 3 years of experience in a bookkeeping or accounting role.
Previous experience in the construction industry is a strongly desired asset.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and bookkeeping best practices.
Proficiency in accounting software; experience with Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate is an asset.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
