The Role
As a Senior Onboarding Analyst, you will be crucial in protecting Ebury and our corporate client base from financial crime risks. You will conduct in-depth due diligence on complex client segments with a strong focus on compliance within the Canadian jurisdiction.
Responsibilities
Risk Mitigation: Safeguard Ebury and all client relationships from financial crime risks, including money laundering, terrorist financing, bribery and corruption, fraud, sanctions risk, tax evasion, and reputational risk.
Onboarding Compliance: Perform anti-financial crime checks for corporate clients during the Ebury Onboarding process, ensuring strict compliance with all relevant legislative, regulatory, and internal requirements.
Due Diligence: Conduct comprehensive CDD (Customer Due Diligence) and EDD (Enhanced Due Diligence) checks, including the KYC process, identification and analysis of complex ownership structures, financial statements, and transaction patterns.
Jurisdictional Analysis: Apply CDD/EDD analysis across all types of legal entities and business sectors in various jurisdictions, with a specific emphasis on local Canadian clients.
Client Communication: Serve as a direct contact for clients, clearly presenting Ebury’s onboarding requirements in a clear and compliant manner.
Decision Making: Identify red flags and exposure to financial crime risk, escalating complex cases to Compliance and Senior Management as required, and making risk-based decisions to onboard or reject applications.
Case Management: Efficiently manage a personal portfolio of onboarding cases, proactively following up with clients and sales representatives to ensure timely completion.
Documentation & Quality: Document client files in a structured format compliant with internal requirements and validate checks carried out by other team members.
Process Improvement & Audit: Identify opportunities for improvement within the onboarding process and assist in the preparation and management of data for internal and external audits.
Team Support: Support ad-hoc projects, assist in training delivery, and support the Supervisor with team management responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
Minimum 2 years of dedicated experience conducting CDD and EDD with corporate, complex client segments in Canada, specifically including: Trust & Corporate Service Providers, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Charities, MIFID entities, and Funds.
Advanced knowledge of red flags and financial crime typologies relevant to the payments and FX (Foreign Exchange) space.
Soft Skills:
Proactive, highly organized, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Diligent, with excellent attention to detail.
Effective critical thinking skills, with the ability to find solutions to problems independently.
Strong communication skills (written and verbal), including effective collaboration with Front Office teams.
Co-operative, comfortable working in a team environment (including remote teams).
Curious, engaged, and adaptable to changing products and processes.
Nice to Have:
Experience of direct client contact within financial services is a plus.
