The Industry Consultant, Professional Services will play a key role in supporting students’ career development by designing and implementing targeted programming that fosters their individual career growth. They will advise students on job search strategies, industry research, and networking approaches, while providing guidance on cover letters, resumes, and interview preparation. Drawing on strong professional service industry knowledge, the incumbent will bring current and nuanced insights into evolving recruitment practices, role expectations, and sector trends to help students effectively prepare for specific industry requirements. They will cultivate ongoing, high-profile partnerships with external stakeholders to advance strategic agendas and expand opportunities for students. In addition, the incumbent will maintain accurate and up-to-date information on digital platforms, stay informed on best practices for student placement and work-integrated learning, and serve as a trusted resource to colleagues by providing job-related guidance. They will also be responsible for collating and organizing data for various reports to inform program planning and continuous improvement.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing program components to foster students' individual career development process
- Implementing programming to foster students' individual career development process.
- Advising students on career-related matters by providing options and consequences incorporating personal circumstances impacting academic success and an understanding of an individual's background
- Cultivating ongoing, high-profile prospective partnerships that advance strategic agendas
- Maintaining information on digital platforms.
- Keeping well-informed on best practices for developing student placement and work-integrated learning opportunities.
- Collating and organizing data for various reports.
Essential Qualifications:
- Master's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum eight or more years of industry experience, in the Professional Services Industry.
- Minimum five years experience providing career and job search guidance and coaching , including both working on an individual basis and group work development and facilitation, in both career planning and job search strategy.
- Demonstrate experience with developing and delivering learning outcomes in group programming, for both in person and virtual delivery.
- Extensive knowledge of labour market conditions and opportunities for work.
- Sound knowledge of job search strategies and career development theory as well superior knowledge of job occupations, professions and opportunities within the respective industry.
- Strong computer and software skills (MS Office, AI platforms, virtual presentation tools e.g. Zoom, Teams, etc.).
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, both in person and virtual interactions.
- Extensive research skills, regarding career preparation by industry.
- Strong leadership capabilities; independent problem-solving skills; excellent judgement and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Outstanding organizational ability; ability to work independently, to set priorities and work schedules to meet deadlines.
- Excellent relationship management skills with a proven track record of developing business and job leads and managing a strong network of contacts at the University and with external stakeholders.
- Outstanding customer service focus essential and an ability to relate well to the highly diverse and demanding communities of students and businesses.
- Knowledge of international job market and cultural differences which influence career success.
- Must have a good understanding of the graduate business student and employer job market.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 17 -- $109,761. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $140,365. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
