🎠Role & Team
We're looking to hire an Implementation Data Specialist to lead and execute the data migration activities required to move data from legacy systems into gaiia.
This role will work closely with business stakeholders, gaiia’s Lifecycle team, and clients to ensure that migrations are accurate, timely, and meet required data quality standards. You’ll be hands-on with data mapping, transformation, validation, cutover, and post-migration verification to make sure the new system works with reliable, trusted data.
You will be responsible for managing the relationship with the customer through the migration, resolving questions from both the customer and gaiia’s implementation team (Lifecycle).
💻 What You’re Going to Do
Collaborate with customers and internal teams to assess the existing (legacy) data environment: structures, data sources, volumes, quality, and special requirements.
Lead solutioning for data migration: evaluate requirements, design migration approaches, and propose solutions that balance customer needs with gaiia’s platform capabilities.
Work with gaiia’s engineers (Lifecycle team) to extract data from legacy systems: databases, spreadsheets, flat files, APIs, etc.
Support user acceptance testing (UAT) related to data; verify that the business sees data as expected.
Plan and execute cutover strategy: final “delta” migrations, downtime/maintenance windows as needed, rollback plans.
Monitor during and after cutover for issues, resolve discrepancies, ensure performance and stability of data in production.
Produce documentation of the migration: mapping specs, transformation rules, data anomalies, decision logs.
Train or support clients or internal users on new data access / practices where things have changed.
Communicate status, risks, and issues to implementation stakeholders and clients.
🎖️ Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Experience (ideally 2-5+ years) working in data migration, data implementation, ETL, or similar roles.
Experience with data mapping and transformation logic; ability to read and understand legacy schemas.
You are an effective communicator with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including clients.
You are project oriented: able to manage tasks, timelines, and deliverables; handle cutover planning.
You have a strong ownership: you see migrations through from start to end. Create a smooth and safe implementation environment for the client during implementation.
Clients / internal users receive clean, usable data in the new system with few defects in UAT / shortly after go-live.
Write well documented mapping, process, decisions so maintenance & future migrations (if any) are smoother.
Able to clearly report status, risks, and mitigation plans throughout the migration lifecycle.
Comfortable working in fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environments common with legacy systems.
âś… Nice-to-have
Strong proficiency in SQL; comfortable writing queries, transformations, debugging data issues. Familiarity with data quality, validation, cleansing techniques.
Experience creating test plans for both pre- and post-migration validation: data integrity checks, reconciliation, spot checks, statistical sampling, etc.
