Detailed OverviewSupporting the Vision, Values, Purpose and Commitments of Fraser Health including service delivery that is centered around patients/clients/residents and families:
Responsible for the coordination and operation of all clinical equipment and information systems that support the operation of Interventional Cardiology services across Fraser Health.
Acts as the primary resource for Interventional Cardiology in the maintenance and implementation of applications and related systems, and in planning, prioritizing and evolution of operational support tools. Oversees day-to-day operation of clinical data collection and analysis for the Cardiac Catheterization Lab. In conjunction with the Director, plans for new and revised information systems; liaises with appropriate personnel and related departments, users and vendors (as appropriate) re; Cardiology requirements and processes. Trains and coordinates clerical support as it relates to clinical information systems for cardiology sites within Fraser Health.
Responsibilities
- Provides support and advice to users of information technology equipment within the Interventional Cardiology departments of Fraser Health. Evaluates information technology equipment and service requirements and monitors level of support to ensure requirements are met and targets/objectives achieved.
- Examines and identifies problems/limitations with existing systems and recommends modifications or new systems. Liaises with other information systems coordinators/specialists within FH and with outside vendors to facilitate changes.
- Coordinates the use of all program equipment and computer-based information systems in operation throughout Interventional Cardiology in Fraser Health in order to ensure effective and efficient day-to-day workflow.
- Oversees and ensures the accurate collection of clinical data related to Cardiology required by internal management and/or external bodies. Generates statistical, clinical, financial and quality assurance reports using various software tools, as required.
- Coordinates business process assessment and re-engineering activities, including testing before systems implementation.
- Maintains an inventory of existing program equipment and data systems; develops project plans for future evolution of data toolsets within Interventional Cardiology.
- Develops and updates policies and procedures related to workflow and use of equipment and information systems throughout Cardiology.
- Coordinates and participates in initiatives and specification reviews that approve new technology and program equipment for use in Cardiology in order to ensure compatibility with existing databases.
- Liaises with appropriate departments to ensure compliance with Protection of Privacy/Freedom of Information Act, as well as other legislative and departmental requirements (i.e. consents, record retention, security).
- Liaises with Information Management and Biomedical Engineering Departments in all aspects related to program systems to ensure cross program and cross platform data compatibility. Maintains close liaison with application vendors and external institutions as related to Interventional Cardiology Information Management Systems and data.
- Determines training needs related to workflow and computerized systems within Cardiology; recommends education program requirements to relevant personnel.
- Performs initial staff orientation and ongoing training in order to maintain and upgrade skills that are required to meet or exceed quality assurance indicators.
- Acts as a resource to external technology-related initiatives including but not limited to the BC Cardiac Registry.
QualificationsEducation and ExperienceBachelor's Degree in Information Management or related discipline plus 3 years recent related information systems experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Knowledge of clinical cardiac / cardiovascular services and processes are a definite asset.
