Work Environment: Foster Creek & Christina Lake This is a full-time employee position working a shift rotation Foster Creek and Christina Lake has full-service camp facilities Depending on your place of residence and your shift rotation, bus and/or air transportation to/from site is offered from designated departure points in select locations Foster Creek is serviced by flight Hubs in Calgary and Edmonton Christina Lake is serviced by flight Hubs in Calgary and Edmonton as well as bus transportation to site from La Corey, AB. and Lac La Biche, AB What you’ll do: Demonstrate strong leadership and decision-making while mentoring a blended workforce of emergency responders, ensuring cohesion and consistent performance. Serve as Incident Commander during emergencies, formulating Incident Action Plans, directing tactical operations, and prioritizing safety. Enforce organizational standards and support OH&S compliance, investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives. Coordinate training, mentoring, and skill development for response personnel. Oversee operational readiness, including maintenance of Cenovus-owned vehicles, apparatus, and specialized equipment. Represent Emergency Services at on-site meetings and collaborate with internal teams and external agencies. Who you are: Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements: Legally authorized to work in Canada. Skilled communicator with the ability to engage diverse teams and partners. Mentor and coach, fostering accountability and professional growth. Collaborative and adaptable, ensuring cohesion within a blended workforce. Minimum 8 years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry, specializing in Emergency Response with at least three years in a supervisory position. Extensive technical, strong leadership and decision making abilities. Certifications (Required): EMR in good standing with the Alberta College of Paramedics. NFPA 1001 – Firefighter Level I & II. NFPA 1002 – Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator. NFPA 1002 – Pump Operator. NFPA 1072 (472) – Hazardous Materials Awareness, Operations, and Technician. NFPA 1006 – Technical Rope Rescue Awareness, Operations, and Technician. NFPA 1140 (1051) – Wildland Fire Protection. NFPA 1041 – Fire Instructor Level I & II. NFPA 1021 – Fire Officer Level I & II. ICS 100 & 200. NFPA Requirements NFPA 1001, 1002, 1072(472), 1006, 1140 (1051), 1041 Level 1 & 2, 1021 Level 1 & 2. ICS 100 & 200. Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) in good standing with the Alberta College of Paramedics. Driver's License Class 3/4 with Q Endorsement. Certifications (Preferred): PCP, or ACP in good standing with the Alberta College of Paramedics. NFPA 1006 – Confined Space Rescue. NFPA 1031 – Fire Inspector. NFPA 1033 – Fire Investigator. NFPA 1521 – Incident Safety Officer. NFPA 1003 – Airport Firefighter or CARS (Air Crash Rescue and Firefighting). Blue Card Command Certification.
