The McGill Institute for the Study of Canada (MISC) invites applications for the Eakin Student Research Internship in Canadian Studies. Conditions of eligibility are below. Thanks to additional, generous support from the Eakin Family, the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada is pleased to announce the Eakin Student Research Internship in Canadian Studies. MISC normally hosts two Eakin Fellows per year (in the Fall and Winter terms.) Eakin Fellows are professional scholars and teachers with an interest in Canadian topics who remain at the Institute for one term, to conduct research and teach a course based on their interests. The Eakin Student Research Internship will serve two purposes. It will provide our visiting Eakin Fellow with the top-quality support of an undergraduate student in Canadian Studies. More importantly, it will give one undergraduate CANS student each term the opportunity to conduct research under the supervision of an established scholar in Canadian topics. Holders of the Eakin Student Research Internship will work for five hours per week, for a total of 60 hours. They will be paid an hourly rate of $18.19/hour, a rate compatible with current rates negotiated between the university and AMURE, the union representing research assistants. The duties of the Eakin Student Research Interns will be determined by the Eakin Fellow in consultation with the student. Normally, these duties should involve research related to the Eakin Fellow’s ongoing projects. Assistance of a strictly personal or administrative character will not be considered a legitimate duty of the Interns. Eligibility: These positions are open to any student pursuing a Canadian Studies program (Major, Minor, Honours and Joint Honours) who is entering the 3rd or 4th year of a program. Having experience in data analysis/gathering data would be an asset. Before applying, please note that to work at McGill University, you must be both authorized to work in Canada and willing to work in the province of Quebec at the campus where the position is based / located.
