The Rotman Commerce program is offered jointly by the Rotman School of Management and the Faculty of Arts and Science. It is a highly respected, highly competitive program within the business, financial and academic communities. Rotman Commerce serves approximately 3,300 in-program undergraduate business students aswell as over 18,000 graduates of the Bachelor of Commerce program. Rotman Commerce offers its students a rich and rigorous academic program alongside ample opportunities to develop themselves personally and professionally.
The Centre for Professional Skills (CPS) is a growing centre within Rotman Commerce with the mandate of supporting Bachelor of Commerce students in developing a core set of professional skills via cumulative curricular and co-curricular touch points throughout their degree (e.g. communication, teamwork, intercultural, technical skills). CPS works with faculty and staff to build programs that target the development of these professional skills and embeds them in courses or co-curricular activities.
As the CPS Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing a wide range of program and administrative supports for CPS projects. You will be a core member of a team that works with faculty, staff, students, as well as teaching assistants and writing instructors, to develop programs aimed at building professional skills for RC students. Your duties will include coordinating tasks for projects and other strategic initiatives with stakeholders, as well as analyzing and recommending enhancements to curricular and co-curricular programs. You will help lead the teamwork mentors program supporting RC students in their group work and manage the booking platform for student appointments with writing and presentation coaches. You will support the development of content for instructional workshops and co-facilitate workshops and seminars. And you will contribute to systematic data collection, management, analysis, and dissemination to support CPS strategic goals. Overall, you will collaborate with CPS and RC staff regarding the operations, services, communications and programs of CPS.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Implementing plans and process improvements for program and service activities
- Developing content for instructional workshops
- Facilitating educational workshops and seminars
- Drafting and editing training content
- Planning and implementing workflow for a group
- Configuring system features and applications
- Monitoring system functionality and preparing standard reports
- Implementing plans and process improvements for records administration activities
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience
- Minimum four (4) years experience coordinating or providing administrative support to programs in a higher education setting or related professional setting
- Demonstrated experience with project management and program planning required
- Demonstrated experience with system administration and configuration required
- Demonstrated experience with data management and analysis required
- Experience with peer-based programs and working with casual staff
- Experience with the use of spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations, as well as databases
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite and MS Planner
- Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal communication skills
- Effective problem solving skills, good judgment and initiative
- Effective oral and written communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, adapt to changing priorities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Assets (Nonessential):
- Knowledge of and familiarity with UofT policies and procedures
- Knowledge of and familiarity with Rotman Commerce programs, and/or the mandate of the Centre for Professional Skills at Rotman Commerce
- Knowledge of and familiarity with educational technologies, such as Quercus/Canvas, WCONLINE, and other educational learning management systems
