Mechanical Technician We are looking for a Mechanical Technician to join our Newmarket qualification center where you will support in-house testing on a broad range of components and assemblies to support the nuclear power industry. You will assist in planning the methods and procedures required for fabricating, assembling, installing and testing a variety of components, materials, apparatus and equipment for adherence to technical project objectives and compliance. You will oversee diverse mechanical maintenance and testing programs or operations, and assist in estimating labor, material, project schedule, equipment life, site space, and report preparation. You will directly test and inspect machines, parts, and equipment and work with engineers to eliminate production problems. You will investigate and analyze design deficiencies or malfunctions where immediate determinations regarding causes and needed corrections are required. Your Challenge: Ensure all work is performed in accordance with the company Quality Program. Experience and understanding of different types of pressure testing using gas and hydraulics. Understanding and familiarity with physical/mechanical concepts such as fluid mechanics, center of gravity, stress and strain Familiarity with pressure gauges, regulators, valves, piping and fittings. Ability to read hydraulic blueprints and technical drawings. Ability to fixture materials using various hand and power tools would be a plus. Experience and understanding of writing procedures and reports. Ability to follow and create work instructions. Work safely with a variety of tools, materials, and equipment. Responsible for the organization, storage and overall cleanliness of all hand tools used in the lab. Time management, multi-tasking, and communicating daily. Work as a team member and participate in activities to improve operations and the facility. Understand the workload and work overtime as needed to support business objectives. What You Bring: College graduate Technician or Technologist. Additional Technical training or certification is preferred Two (2) to four (4) years of related experience Familiarity with electrical systems is an asset Excellent organization and communication (written and oral) skills. Knowledge of basic testing processes and procedures and experience in a highly regulated industry. Attention to detail and critical thinking within an engineering environment.
