As a special education technician has a key role in offering services to students from the Student Experience Department at LaSalle College. He advises and supports both students and front-line colleagues. As part of his duties, he intervenes in both individual and collective assistance.
Status: Permanent full-time – 38 weeks
Hours: 35 hours – week
Salary: Between 27.71$/h - 39.88$/h
RESPONSIBILITIES
Acts as a first line to respond to requests for psychosocial support from students (requests from students directly, teachers or administrative staff);
Implement the accommodations recommended by the advisor;
Ensure regular follow-up of students, develop autonomy;
Support the student in learning strategies, specialized software, adapted equipment;
Work on students' social skills;
Ensure coordination and follow-up with professors (if necessary);
Complete the intervention plan/house;
Accompany students in panic attacks during an exam period;
Any other related tasks.
REQUIREMENTS
Hold a Diploma of Collegial Studies (DEC) with an appropriate field of specialization, particularly in social work, or hold a diploma whose equivalence is recognized;
3 years of relevant experience related to the position;
Fluency in the French language (oral and written);
Proficiency in the English language at a professional level (oral and written).
This role involves interacting with internal and external clients and partners on a national and global scale. Professional proficiency in English is therefore a requirement for this role.
