Job Title: Accounting Manager – CanadaLocation: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada Reports To: Controller
We are seeking a results-driven Accounting Manager to oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, with a strong focus on ensuring timely and accurate month-end closes. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates adaptability to evolving business needs, and can effectively lead a small accounting team through periods of growth and change.Key Responsibilities:• Lead and manage accounting team members, providing guidance, support, and performance management.• Responsible to ensure accuracy of Inventory subledger including Inventory costing and accuracy of physical inventory count and control procedures.• Ensure accurate reporting and control procedures with respect to both Internal Service and Contractor Revenue/Expenses.• Assist with the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring strict adherence to deadlines and accuracy of financial reporting.• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements in accordance with local GAAP, or IFRS (as applicable).• Assist with the preparation of year end audit/tax schedules.• Analyzes actual results and provides explanations for variances to prior year and plan.• Monitor and analyze accounting data to produce financial reports and forecasts that align with business needs.• Ensure compliance with internal controls, corporate policies, and accounting standards.• Process biweekly payroll for hourly union and nonunion, as well as salary employees • Reconciliation of biweekly payroll, and monthly reporting requirements• Develops, monitors, and tests internal controls.• Works with the Operations teams to ensure proper accounting and internal controls are maintained on company-wide basis.• Responds to requests from operations and acts as a business partner to the business.• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., operations, sales, HR) to support business initiatives and resolve accounting-related queries.• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness in accounting workflows.• Remain adaptable and responsive to changing priorities in a dynamic business environment.
Qualifications:• CPA designation (or in final stages of completion) strongly preferred.• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices (local GAAP or IFRS).• Proven ability to manage tight month-end close timelines in a multi-entity or project-based environment.• Payroll software experience (ADP workforce now)• Proficiency with accounting software (JDE and OneStream preferred)• Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial reporting tools.• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.• High attention to detail and organization.• Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to change and lead teams through transition.• Experience in the construction, building maintenance, or service industry is a strong asset.
