Key focus:
The successful candidate in this role will be responsible for supporting product design and engineering initiatives of customers with a strong focus on the development of Starlim-based testing and prototyping capabilities.
We require an experienced Product Development Engineer who will be responsible for:
Assisting customer with product design & development
Engineering based sales activities
Assisting Marketing and Sales Manager and colleagues on customer specification interpretation
Liaison with Austrian headquarters Product Design and Development Engineering department
Early involvement and assistance for Customer Engineering community
Maintain Engineering specifications/ standards library
Engineering liaison with North American suppliers
Technical support for material compliance requirements
Coordinating lab testing for internal/external testing and provide interpretation and communication of test results to stakeholders (new development work, projects, equipment)
Preparing technical articles and presentations to showcase Starlim’s capabilities on an annual basis
Project management of all design/development and prototype activities according to APQP process
Lead and implement SR&ED system, project tracking and reporting for the company
Input to DFMEA & PFMEA
Support 8D processes for design related issues
Assist in finalizing quotes
Support projects with vendor identification, evaluation and selection for specialized equipment and automation
Establish user requirement specifications for new manufacturing equipment to meet customer and Starlim requirements
Lead design reviews with internal departments and vendors
Develop and define process for new manufacturing operations
Lead and coordinate internal resources and contractors to support the installation and commsioning of new equipment
Generate test protocols and reports for factory & site accepteance tests for the qualification of new equipment
Establish work instructions and train team leaders on the safe and efficient operation of equipment
Arrange ESA and PSR approvals for all manufacturing equipment
Support Environmental, Health & Safety initiatives throughout the facility, ensuring safety, housekeeping and quality standards are maintained
Communicates effectively through all levels of the organization
Other duties as assigned by the department Manager
Do you have?
University degree in mechanical engineering
5 years’ experience in an engineering capacity
LSR or thermoplastics injection molding field preferred
Majority of experience should include product design (preferably automotive or medical device) and project management
Understanding of health and safety procedures in a manufacturing environment
Oriented to a manufacturing organization
Successful candidate will also have:
Experience with LSR and plastic material properties
Experience with LSR and plastic part design
Experience with LSR and plastic or rubber mold design
Proficiency with CAD software. Solid works experience preferred
Ability to travel throughout North America and parts of Europe on a frequent basis
Excellent technical understanding
Strong understanding of SQE tools (8D, FMEA, DFMEA, DOE, APQP, DVP&R, DFMA etc.).
Excellent Project Management skills
Ability to handle information with confidentiality and discretion
Must be able to work as a part of a team, successfully coordinating with team members from various departments.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and confidence in dealing with all levels of an organization
Sound judgment, prioritization skills and the ability to make independent decisions is expected
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Microsoft Project
