As Director, Building Systems, you will play a key role in advancing our smart building strategy and ensuring the security and resilience of our building technology platforms. You’ll collaborate across business units, technology teams, and external vendors to support and enhance our building systems, driving operational excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Technology Support & Delivery
Lead analysis and development of solutions to building system problems, including issue resolution, vendor engagement, and coordination with technology services.
Support the planning, delivery, and optimization of smart building technologies, including IoT devices, automation platforms, and integrated property systems.
Participate in the development and execution of technology roadmaps for smart buildings, ensuring alignment with business priorities and operational requirements.
Provide continual updates on return on investment related to building system initiatives.
Cybersecurity & Risk Management
Conduct and support security audits and reviews for building systems, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
Monitor and communicate the status of cyber risks and vulnerabilities related to building systems platforms.
Work with internal technology teams and external vendors to implement and maintain robust security controls for building systems, including access management, data protection, and incident response.
Support the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures for cyber and physical security of building systems.
Participate in risk assessments and contribute to the development of mitigation strategies for technology-related threats.
Collaboration & Partnerships
Foster collaborative relationships with business teams, technology services, and external vendors to deliver high-quality, secure building technology solutions.
Champion a culture of innovation and continuous improvement in building systems.
Engage with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions that enhance operational efficiency, customer experience, and security posture.
Support cross-functional initiatives related to smart building and property technology programs.
Ensure service excellence in all interactions, fostering trust and satisfaction among internal and external stakeholders, while demonstrating strong influencing skills to align diverse perspectives and drive adoption of technology solutions.
Operational Excellence
Monitor and communicate status of building system issues and enhancements.
Conduct and support security audits and reviews for building systems.
Identify opportunities for improvement in applications and processes, driving efficiency and consistency.
To succeed in this role, you must have:
Demonstrated experience with smart building technologies, IoT, automation, and cybersecurity best practices.
Sound financial knowledge and ability to apply it to building technology projects.
Demonstrated ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to translate complex information for diverse audiences.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 7 - 10+ years in building systems, digital systems, or property technology, ideally in enterprise settings.
Post-secondary degree or equivalent; specialization in technology, engineering, or related field preferred.
Willingness to travel.
Bilingual (French/English) an asset.
