As an Environment and Regulatory Advisor, you will be at the heart of our operations, supporting the refinery and distribution terminals in the province of Quebec. You will be responsible for regulatory monitoring, environmental reporting and monitoring, and the implementation of environmental best practices to support the operations of the Montreal refinery and distribution terminals in the province of Quebec. The position requires the ability to influence to ensure operational discipline and continuous improvement. Reporting directly to the Head of Environment - Health and Safety Department, you will leverage your expertise to: Ensure regulatory monitoring and environmental compliance Produce environmental reports and monitoring Implement best practices to support operations Influence and promote operational discipline and continuous improvement Minimum Requirements: University degree in engineering, science or environmental discipline 7 to 10 years of experience in a similar role, ideally in refining or heavy industry Fluency in French (mandatory) and working knowledge of English (asset) Knowledge of environmental legislation (federal, provincial, municipal) Experience in emissions reporting (GHGRP, SPEDE) Collaboration skills and ability to build positive relationships Anticipation of problems and a strong sense of responsibility Knowledge of software such as TankESP or Emisfer (asset) Key Responsibilities Ensure compliance with water, air and soil regulations Provide environmental compliance advice to the refinery teams Proactively working with regulatory authorities for permits and approvals Participate in project management and evaluate environmental control measures Support major shutdown planning for safe and efficient execution Use risk management tools to identify and mitigate hazards Develop and maintain reporting, investigation and analysis processes Share lessons learned across the business unit Operational Discipline : Operational discipline is essential to ensure the safety, compliance, and sustainable performance of our operations. To offer specialized support and advice mainly in the environment, but also in safety, emergency management and industrial hygiene, in order to support the operational excellence of the refinery. Work closely with different departments to plan, implement, and optimize personal safety programs, while integrating emerging regulatory requirements. Support the preparation and execution of major plant shutdowns, ensuring safe, efficient execution and compliance with the highest standards. Maintain proactive relationships with regulatory authorities to ensure necessary approvals and permits, and ensure smooth management of relationships with stakeholders and government authorities. Foster collaboration with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to promote a culture of safety, compliance and continuous improvement within Suncor. Risk Management Proactive risk management is a fundamental pillar to protect our employees, facilities and the environment, while ensuring the sustainability of our operations. Ensure the rigorous application of risk management processes and tools to effectively identify, assess and control potential hazards related to operations. Actively contribute to project management by integrating environmental needs and evaluating controls throughout the progress of initiatives. Lead the reporting of events, the conduct of incident investigations and the sharing of learnings, in a continuous improvement approach. Develop, implement and maintain robust reporting, investigation and analysis processes, in order to develop relevant corrective and preventive measures to reduce injuries and losses. Ensure the dissemination of lessons learned and best practices across the business unit, to strengthen the culture of safety and environmental performance.
