Job Description: Position Purpose Summary: The Christmas Support Worker provides support to the Lethbridge Community and Family Services during the Christmas season on a temporary basis. Accountabilities: Assist with the set-up, take-down and organization of Toys for Tots distribution program. Assist with the scheduling and organization of volunteers. Receive and process donations of toys for distribution and provide assistance with packing and sorting toy donations. Assists with picking up toy and other donations as needed. Assist with recording statistical data in a clear, organized and accurate manner using the Link2Feed Client Management System. Receive and process telephone calls from clients requiring assistance. Assist with the Christmas Kettle Campaign as needed, including fulfilling kettle shifts, picking up kettles, and counting kettle income. Assists with other ministry unit Christmas functions. Perform other position related duties as required. WORKING CONDITIONS: This is a temporary full time position based on 37.5 hours per week. Shifts will include days, afternoons, and evening shifts, Monday through Saturday, flexibility in scheduling is required. Normal hours of work – 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday and includes a ½ hour unpaid meal break where applicable. Normal location of work is at: 1302 4 Avenue S., Lethbridge, AB The Supervisor will set the hours of work and work schedule. Working environment is typically in the office in generally agreeable conditions. Ability to lift/move more than 20 lbs. (10 kg). Education, Qualifications and Certifications: Completed Secondary School. Must provide an original copy of a Background Check that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required. The screening is secured either through the national Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) or through a local police detachment Must provide an original copy of a current Alberta “Class 5” Driver’s License and current Driver’s Abstract. May require screening through The Salvation Army Abuse Registry. Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements: Minimum of one (1) year of prior related experience working in community-based programs would be a definite asset. Volunteer management skills. Skills and Capabilities: Attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills. Ability to work with little supervision but also able to accept direction when necessary. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy work environment. Good organization, communication and interpersonal skills. Self-motivated and disciplined. Lead by example, by demonstrating a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and be flexible in the face of change. Ability to maintain information in confidence and exercise good judgement. Demonstrated ability to work independently and participate as an active and responsible team member in a cooperative team environment. Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability. Exhibit good listening skills, have strong oral/written communication skills and respect authority. Participate in mandatory orientation training, on-going professional development and training. Participate in regular supervision. Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures. Proficient in working in a computerized environment; must demonstrate strong skills using Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Power Point Represent the organization in a positive, professional and engaging manner. Compensation: The target hiring range for this position is $17.33 to $21.66 with a maximum of $25.99.
