Main Responsibilities: The Canada Medical Director (Pediatric Vaccines) will develop and execute the franchise Medical strategy in alignment with cross-functional objectives. They will act as the local representative for Integrated Evidence Generation Planning (iEGP) and oversee evidence generation tactics in Canada. Additionally, they will establish and foster relationships with external stakeholders (e.g., Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), public health officials) and generate insight from external engagements that inform franchise Medical strategy and planning. Strategy (30%) Develop, integrate, and execute while being accountable for the Country Medical Roadmap, Country Medical Plan, and integrated Evidence Generation Plan (iEGP) Lead and drive the development of advanced Medical and scientific strategies for the portfolio therapeutic area, incorporating franchise-specific details Provide strategic leadership and oversight of projects and activities for the Canadian Medical team and work in close collaboration with other departments including brand teams and Public Affairs External Relationships (30%) Establish and foster proactive and broad relationships with key contacts in the Canadian healthcare (e.g., Government Health Authorities, External Experts, Thought Leaders, Academics, Healthcare Professionals, Patient and Patient Advocacy Groups) as part of a coordinated stakeholder plan to secure involvement in stakeholder discussions and position Sanofi Vaccines within key healthcare initiatives Build and maintain relationships with key professional societies, public health authorities, and key external experts (academic and community) to engage in scientific exchange on disease states, epidemiology, and clinical trials of products Understand key account based and customer-based strategies and opportunities for medical and scientific collaboration Lead external advisory boards focused on pediatric vaccine products and pipeline Provide guidance on pediatric vaccine products and related Medical issues and seek impactful insights from external engagements with key contacts in the Canadian healthcare environment (e.g., Government Health Authorities, External Experts, Thought Leaders, Academics, Healthcare Professionals, Patient and Patient Advocacy Groups) to inform Medical strategy and planning Internal Collaboration/Communication (20%) Partner with cross-functional teams to generate a large and complex evidence portfolio to support products in pre-/peri-launch phases Work closely with North American Medical Team members (i.e., NA Regional Medical Value & Impact Manager, NA Medical Operations Lead, NA Medical Study Lead, NA Regional Medical Governance Officer, & NA Portfolio, New Products, & Innovation Lead) to develop and support the tracking of franchise impact tools and metrics Share feedback from Thought Leaders with cross-functional teams to understand emerging trends, challenges, and unmet needs in the healthcare landscape to educate internal stakeholders Liaise closely with franchise heads to ensure all Canadian evidence generation priorities and tactics are being adequately executed Collaborate with NA Medical External Scientific Exchange Strategy team to align on multi-channel activities related to the franchise’s strategy, portfolio, stakeholders, and Medical activities Data Generation (10%) Serve as the point of contact and be accountable for iEGP planning and oversee the execution of evidence generation tactics in Canada, as defined by the Canada Medical Head, Vaccines Identify emerging evidence generation opportunities and prioritize evidence gaps and execute innovative evidence-generation projects (i.e., RWE) aligned with Medical and global business unit priorities Foster cross-functional and cross-country collaborations where possible to address critical knowledge gaps effectively Contribute to gap analyses and development of innovative approaches to the evidence generation (i.e., RWE) and clinical plans alongside the NA Franchise Heads and under the direction of the Canada Medical Head, Vaccines to meet the needs of the local and global business units including new study designs and alternative methodologies Support the design and execution of Sanofi Vaccine-sponsored clinical trials, (e.g., Ph4 post-marketing and observational studies) and oversee the review and execution of Canada-specific investigator-sponsored studies (ISS) Medical Operations (10%) Support the development and implementation of Medical strategies/tactics/activities and ensure efforts are coordinated and closely aligned with cross-functional teams (e.g., Canada Commercial, Public Affairs, Market Access, Regulatory, etc.) Foster scientific information exchange between Sanofi and the medical community through execution of scientific communication plan linked to iEGP Evaluate the medical quality of all materials ensuring that code of federal and provincial regulations is maintained Review promotional and non-promotional materials to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal and external guidelines, requirements, and regulations Promote accurate, compliant, and effective promotional and on-promotional materials and enhance understanding of guidelines and acceptable strategies for marketing departments. Note: This role will have a dotted line reporting relationship to the NA Medical Head of the appropriate franchise, collaborating closely on strategy, scientific exchange, and data generation, while maintaining direct reporting to the Canada Medical Head. About you Basic Qualifications: Advanced degree (MD or PhD) in scientific or healthcare-related field (vaccinology, immunology, microbiology and/or infectious disease) 5+ years in Medical Affairs within the pharmaceutical / biotechnology industry Relevant clinical experience or track record of peer reviewed publications in the US Ability to travel up to 20% of the time Knowledge of Canadian health care system, communicable disease control, public health, and immunization practices Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in an external stakeholder facing role (i.e., governmental collaboration) Recognized by other vaccine experts as being expert in vaccinology or a related discipline Infectious diseases and/or vaccine experience either from academia/research and/or preferably from the pharma industry with relevant customer knowledge Competencies that the successful candidate will possess: Developed business acumen to support compelling and effective Medical strategies that serves to benefit patients, HCPs, and other key external stakeholders Ability to understand and effectively communicate vaccine clinical studies, both interventional and observational Knowledge of vaccine study design and interpretation (interventional and observational) Infectious diseases and/or vaccine experience either from academia/research and/or preferably from the pharma industry with relevant customer knowledge Ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously; plan, prioritize and implement actions using a self-dependent and structured working style Excellent interpersonal, communication, influencing and networking skills with an ability to work as part of a cross-functional and multicultural team Effectively engage with key external stakeholders and build long-term partnerships with medical authorities, hospitals, physicians/specialists, opinion leaders and pharmacists Ability to analyze information and emerging trends, including social, policy and access-related information, and incorporate them into the medical plans Develop scientific communication and education initiatives using scientific/medical expertise, customer insights and understanding of launch strategy; train and educate internal and external stakeholders Why Choose Us?
