Your Opportunity:
The role of a Mechanical Engineer in Training is to work on projects of all sizes under the guidance and supervision of a senior engineer. You will learn to evaluate, select, specify, and engineer mining systems. You will perform a variety of tasks which will include calculations and potential field work requiring travel.
The mechanical engineer in training will assist more senior engineers and progressively take on more independent work as experience is gained. The successful candidate will take part in Stantec Mining’s mentoring program, which will provide the candidate with a broad range of experience in all aspects of project delivery under the guidance of a senior member of the organization.
Your Key Responsibilities:
Support project team in development of design documentation, plans and reports for relevant project design elements.
Assist in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
Utilize technology to assist in the development of three-dimensional models of mechanical systems.
Prepare and revise documentation in various project phases.
Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure compatibility with the design intent.
Assist in the review of shop drawings and submittals, responds to requests for information, prepares site observation reports, and performs other contract administration tasks.
Assist with the development of job specific discipline specifications.
Assist in the evaluation and selection of mechanical systems and materials.
Attend project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants.
Perform calculations to analyze and design mechanical system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
