Job Title: Accounting Clerk
Reporting To: Senior Accountant
Purpose: To contribute to timely and accurate recording of financial data, helping to build trust and transparency with stakeholders as well as ensure reliable financial reporting and audit readiness

Role Summary:
The Accounting Clerk supports the Finance team and the organization as a whole by ensuring that financial transactions are recorded accurately and promptly and that vendors are paid on a timely basis.
Responsibilities:
The Accounting Clerk is responsible for:
Accounts Payable and Receivable Transactions:
Process accounts payable invoices, verifying accuracy, obtaining approvals, and ensuring proper coding
Contact vendors to obtain details, verify banking information and set them up in the accounting system
Prepare vendor payments in a timely manner
Communicate professionally with vendors regarding invoice status, payment inquiries, and discrepancies
Perform monthly credit card reconciliations, ensuring adequate backup documentation and resolving discrepancies promptly
Assist in processing accounts receivable transactions and tracking scheduled payments
Expense Claims:
Process expense reimbursement claims in a timely manner
Communicate with team members regarding status of their claims and resolve any discrepancies
Other:
Perform administrative tasks, such as data entry, filing and managing correspondence to ensure organized record keeping
Support the Finance team with other accounting duties as needed
Serve as backup for the office administrator, answering phones, collecting mail etc. when needed
Qualifications and Experience:
1+ years of experience in a high-volume AP role
Proficiency with accounting software (Acumatica is an asset) and Microsoft Excel
Prior experience with non-profit accounting is an asset
