CLOSING DATE: November 12, 2025 Opportunity The Chief Client Relations Officer is responsible for leading AIMCo’s client relations strategy, ensuring the highest standards of service and engagement with all of AIMCo’s clients. This executive role oversees the Client Relations Division, which facilitates strong relationships between AIMCo and clients, provides client support and portfolio advice, and drives initiatives that enhance client satisfaction and organizational performance, and manages stakeholder relations. The Chief Client Relations Officer is a member of the Executive Committee, contributing to enterprise-wide strategic decision-making and shaping the organization’s client-centric vision at the highest level. As a visible and engaged leader, the Chief Client Relations Officer will reside in Edmonton, Alberta, and actively contribute to the local community. This includes building meaningful relationships with regional stakeholders, participating in community initiatives, and representing AIMCo with integrity and purpose both inside and outside the organization. The Client Relations Division consists of four distinct teams—Client Relations Management and Business Planning, Client Investment Strategy, Sustainable Investing, and Communications and Stakeholder Relations—that all work collaboratively to achieve the organization's overarching goal of helping AIMCo’s clients secure a better financial future for the Albertans they serve. This role works in close partnership with AIMCo’s Investment and Risk teams to ensure strategic alignment between client strategy and investment execution. This collaboration is essential to delivering integrated solutions that reflect both client priorities and investment realities. The Client Relations and Business Planning team and Client Investment Strategy team, lead the client relationships and ensures strategic alignment with each client’s investment and non-investment objectives. The team supports the planning and execution of client strategies, evaluates and responds to client feedback, advises on portfolio construction, asset/liability analytics, and policy mix, and collaborates with cross-functional teams across AIMCo to enhance service delivery and the overall client experience. By building and maintaining deep relationships with clients and understanding their priorities—including those of their Boards and Committees—the team ensures consistent, reliable service and a client-centric approach across all touchpoints. The Client Investment Strategy team is also responsible for reviewing existing products and developing new products and solutions to ensure AIMCo’s product platform collectively meets clients’ requirements in an efficient and effective manner. This function works closely with and complements the Investment and Operations teams, adding a top-down perspective on AIMCo’s product platform and product descriptions. The Sustainable Investing team supports the integration of environmental, social, and governance factors across the investment process to help unlock investment opportunities, mitigate risk and identify drivers of long-term growth. Oversight of sustainable investing is a key responsibility of this role, ensuring that sustainable investing integration is strategically aligned with both client expectations and AIMCo’s investment approach. This includes active stewardship practices such as proxy voting, which serve as critical tools to influence corporate behaviour and promote long-term value creation. The Communications and Stakeholder Relations team plays a critical role in shaping and delivering AIMCo’s strategic narrative. This team ensures that internal and external communications are aligned with corporate priorities and resonate across all stakeholder groups, including employees, clients, partners, and the broader public. The Chief Client Relations Officer partners closely with the Managing Director to uphold AIMCo’s reputation, foster trust through transparent engagement, and drive proactive, high-impact messaging that supports the organization’s long-term vision and values. Key Responsibilities: Client Relations Division Leadership Manage and nurture relationships with all AIMCo clients, acting as an advocate and primary facilitator between AIMCo and its clients. Oversee the Client Relations Division, ensuring it is staffed with skilled professionals who meet both client and organizational expectations. Ensure effective training and knowledge sharing within the division to enable staff to fulfill responsibilities efficiently. Oversee client relations initiatives, resolve complex problems, and ensure proper succession planning throughout the division. Strategic Development & Implementation Develop and implement AIMCo’s client relations strategy, propose new strategies based on client interactions, and collaborate with AIMCo leadership to develop policies and practices. Direct daily operations of the Client Relations Division, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Ensure strategic alignment between client strategy and investment strategy through active collaboration with clients and the Investment and Risk teams. Client Engagement & Communication Facilitate quarterly client update meetings, the annual Client Symposium and oversee the production and delivery of client reports. Develop communication channels for regular, clear interactions between AIMCo and its clients. Administer and analyze client feedback, ensuring improvements are implemented as required. Topics of active engagement with clients would include investment strategy, alignment to risk appetite, portfolio construction, asset liability management, and other related value-add. Problem Solving & Mediation Effectively address client concerns and formulate constructive action plans to resolve priorities and issues. Mediate issues and balance competing interests while preserving productive business relationships. Key Competencies In-depth knowledge of pension fund investment policies and administrative procedures. 10+ years’ experience in account management or relationship management roles. Understanding of international and domestic financial systems and practices. Sound consultation and relationship management skills. Excellent written and oral communication abilities. Strong problem-solving skills; ability to anticipate challenges. Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to build, guide and inspire high-performing teams towards excellence. Ability to coach and mentor subordinates. Demonstrated oversight of stewardship practices, including proxy voting, to ensure alignment with responsible investment principles and long-term value creation.
