We are currently seeking a Health Care Aide to join our team that is responsible for hands-on personal care services, medication administration, light housekeeping and meal service assistance, as well as participation in social-recreational activities.
Responsibilities
Maintains resident records and required documentation in accordance with policies and procedures and legislative requirements.
Must be able to perform medication assistance and care tasks, including BP monitoring, Catheter care, Assistance with ROM, mobility/movement exercises, medication assistance/administration including eye drops, eye ointments, inhalers, nebulizers, PRN medication, insulin injections, transdermal medication patch, inserting rectal suppository, application of topical ointments as delegated or when part of routine assistance of daily living.
Monitors resident well-being in accordance with the policy of the residence.
Performs other related duties as required to support common area cleaning, laundry and resident care assignments.
Completes all aspects of resident care as outlined in the personal service plan.
Answers all resident call bells and door alarms promptly and provides courteous service.
Working with residents to meet care requirements and communicate any concerns to the doctor and manager as needed
Demonstrate ongoing competence utilizing knowledge, skill, judgment, and evidence-based practice in caring for aging adult is vital in this role
Ensure accordance with provincial continuing care health service standards, legislation, codes, regulations, and employment and safety statutes
Demonstrate awareness of accident and injury prevention, through safe work practices and procedures
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
Completion of provincial Health Care Aide certification
Registered with provincial health care registry
Completion of Medication Administration course
Experience in a residential care setting is preferred
Demonstrate infection control procedures
Exceptional interpersonal skills with peers, residents, visitors and operational partners
Superior organizational skills with the ability to handle multi-resident requests
Superior oral and written communication skills
Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and problem solve
Flexibility to work a variety of shifts
Ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend, squat, kneel and lift 25 pounds
Display compassion, education, proficiency, and experience while assisting residents
Conditions of Employment
Completion of CPR and First Aid
