JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Occupational Therapist, the Occupational Therapist Assistant is responsible for assisting residents to regain and/or maintain an optimal level of independence, prevent deformity and/or decrease pain within the limits of the resident’s mental and/or physical ability. The Occupational Therapist Assistant will be responsible for day-to-day monitoring and reporting the resident's function, mobility, and response to programs. The Occupational Therapy Assistant will also assist with feeding residents if needed, equipment repair and provision, and cleaning. The Occupational Therapist Assistant will always demonstrate support of Park Place Policies and Procedures and conduct themselves in a professional manner.
Qualifications:
Recognized Therapy Assistant Diploma is an asset, but not required
Experience working with seniors, the disabled, or those requiring mental health support is an asset
Clear criminal record security clearance with vulnerable Sector included (no more than 6 months old)
Must be physically fit, able to be on your feet for long periods of time
Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
Effective written and oral communication skills in the English language
Must be able to work independently, and as part of the interdisciplinary team
