About the Position On-site | Casual As a Lab Assistant, your primary role will be to independently prepare, analyze and dispose of client samples. Specific Responsibilities: Track and weigh client samples for fusion and press pellet analysis; Load and unload electrical furnaces; Wash, dry and organize ceramic crucible trays; Data processing and record-keeping; Perform duties in accordance with SOP and quality control procedures; Transfer samples between digestion and analytical sections; Discard samples after analysis completed according to standard operating procedures; Grind, palatalize, and fuse client samples; Operate fusion machine; grinding mill, and press pellet machines; Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality; Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures; Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Familiarity with weighing samples required; Excellent hand eye coordination; Good organizational skills; Detail oriented individual with a strong commitment to quality; Ability to work independently or as a part of the team; Ability to effectively handle a high volume of work and time critical issues; Intermediate English communication skills both written and verbal; Intermediate computer skills including MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Required Qualifications: Grade 12 education or equivalent required; Diploma or Degree in Science preferred; Minimum of 3 months laboratory experience in analytical chemistry or related field required. Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 20lbs; Ability to sit and/or stand for up to 7.5 hours per day; Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks. Our Benefits Include: An estimated hourly pay of $22.23 CAD at the time of posting. Individual compensation is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training.
