Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925 on a mandate that prioritizes providing meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well being of Canadians primarily in security guard and related services. Spanning Central and Southwestern Ontario, our services are customized to respond to the dynamic and evolving security needs of both private and public sector clients. These include uniformed guard, mobile response and support services, by-law enforcement and identification services.

Loading Dock Security Guard – Summary of Duties
Under general supervision, this role is responsible for safeguarding property against theft, damage, and unauthorized access. The incumbent ensures the safety of all individuals on-site and conducts thorough inspections of products entering and exiting the facility to identify and report any irregularities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Accurately document all incoming and outgoing client products at the loading dock.
Greet and collect information from all delivery drivers.
Record product destinations for both inbound and outbound shipments.
Report any infractions, anomalies, or irregularities to the Supervisor.
Collaborate closely with the client’s logistics team to maintain strong working relationships.
Respond promptly to emergencies including fires, chemical spills, medical incidents, and security threats.
Investigate disturbances and participate as a member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT).
Deliver customer service in alignment with company standards.
Provide escort services for individuals on client property upon request.
Offer public assistance such as lockout support and general information.
Answer incoming calls, relay messages, and assist employees with inquiries.
Monitor and authorize access for employees, visitors, and contractors to prevent theft and ensure site safety.
Complete assigned tasks on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
Prepare detailed reports on daily activities and incidents, including property damage, theft, unauthorized access, and unusual occurrences.
Communicate promptly with designated company and client personnel regarding critical information or events.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct regular patrols to deter safety hazards, theft, violence, and rule violations.
Engage with visitors, patrons, and staff to maintain order and protect property.
Inspect commercial premises for signs of intrusion and verify the security of entry points.
Utilize proper body mechanics during all tasks.
Maintain situational awareness and alertness at all times.
Demonstrate clear thinking and decision-making under pressure.
Exhibit empathy and professionalism when interacting with employees and addressing concerns.
Foster teamwork and maintain effective communication with the security team.
Share relevant information that may impact operations or safety.
Show initiative in learning all aspects of the role and progressing through the designated Level system within the required timeframe.
Obtain Security Control certification within six months of hire, in accordance with the level progression policy.
WE ARE EXCITED FOR YOU TO OFFER US:
Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
Ontario Security Guard License (OSGL).
First Aid and CPR Certificate.
Minimum 6 months security experience.
Must be able to obtain Reliability Security Clearance – minimum 5 years Canadian residency
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to walk for 1 – 2 hours within every 4 hours.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Flexibility to work scheduled and unscheduled shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Potential exposure to high noise levels and varying weather conditions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer applications is required.
