Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Fit and Weld – Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the daily activities of the fabrication department to meet production goals safely while ensuring quality expectations are met. To excel in this role, the Supervisor must weld together metal components to form a final product that is dedicated to the rugged and challenging terrain of the forestry industry.
Location: 1403 Dundas Street, Woodstock, ON
Dedicated Afternoon Shift: 3:30pm – 2:00am, Monday – Thursday
Shift Premium: $3.00 per hour
Job Duties:
Lead the team through change and continuous improvement
Proactively lead the team to achieve all safety, quality, and productivity objectives
Demonstrate and ensure compliance with health and safety policies
Respond to quality issues, determine root causes, and implement solutions
Coach, support, motivate, and recognize employees in their work
Active engagement and supervisor with on-floor presence, dealing with personnel issues and/or bringing up any significant issues to the immediate attention of Management and HR
Assist in recruiting and onboarding new employees
Conduct regular Performance Reviews and implement Performance Improvement Plans
Assist in proper documentation of Disability Claims, WSIB Claims, Return to Work Plans, etc.
Involvement and leadership in Lean Manufacturing and Quality Improvement initiatives
Skills and Experience:
Positive work history at Tigercat and a thorough understanding of Tigercat policies
Knowledgeable of health and safety legislation
Ability to lead and motivate a team of employees
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to take on a leadership role
High level of prioritizing, job/task planning, and organizing abilities
Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands, and able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Excel
Good organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal)
Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve effectively and efficiently
Experience/knowledge of Fabrication including Fitting, Welding, Welding Robot Operations and/or Programming is an asset
Qualifications:
Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team effectively
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey information clearly to team members
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and oversee multiple projects simultaneously
Experience in training, mentoring or developing team members
Ability to address and resolve interpersonal or team conflicts effectively
Experience/knowledge of Fabrication including Fitting, Welding, Welding Robot Operations and/or Programming is preferred.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
