As a Cab Assembler, you will fit and assemble components according to engineering diagrams and documents to build cabs (operator control stations) for heavy forestry equipment. To excel in this role, a combination of technical skills is required, including both problem solving and mechanical aptitude.
Location: 54 Morton Avenue East, Brantford, ON
Dedicated Afternoon Shift: 3:00pm - 1:30pm; Monday - Thursday
Shift Premium: $3.00 per hour in addition to the base rate.
Job Duties:
Read and follow diagrams, drawings, specifications, bills of material, parts lists, and instructions to accurately assemble components.
Utilize hand, power, and pneumatic tools to complete assembly tasks.
Operate lifting devices such as jib cranes to complete assembly installations.
Test and check electrical assemblies and wiring for proper connections.
Repair or replace defective assemblies, components, and accessories.
Ensure meticulous assembly through fit and alignment.
Verify equipment functions and quality standards to prevent faulty products from reaching customers.
Skills and Experience:
Ability to adapt to a changing work environment, handle competing demands, and deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.
Assembly tasks require collaboration with coworkers; effective communication and reasoning skills are essential when working on projects that involve multiple team members.
Good manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination are required.
Physical requirements include the use of strength such as pulling, pushing, lifting and/or moving objects during the work, as well as standing, climbing, kneeling, and bending.
Qualifications:
Previous related experience maintaining or repairing recreational vehicles, landscaping equipment, small engine repair, pre-apprenticeship training or other general construction/trades courses.
Mechanical skills using hand tools and power tools.
Experience reading blueprints or assembly drawings is an asset.
