In this role you will be part of a team that is responsible for managing critical databases in 24x7 environment; monitoring the health of db2 systems to ensure high availability ; addressing clients requirements as well as designing new database applications. You will be a part Data Base Administration Group consisting of 10 Database Administrators supporting complete data management for some of the world’s largest brokerage firms. The environment consists of 2 Production Data-sharing Groups composed of members and corresponding test, qa and UAT environments for a total of 23 DB2 Version 12 Subsystems consisting of over 800 DB2 databases and 25,000 tables utilizing over 70 Terabytes of Data. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Implements data models, database designs, data access methods and perform all aspects of Database and Table maintenance and Administration. Consults with application development teams and advises them of the correct usage of appropriate data manipulation techniques. Responsible for Storage management, backup and Recovery, monitoring and maintaining ongoing performance of databases to develop updates or modifications according to business needs. Monitor and review and collaborate with other database administrators to ensure correct practices and procedures. Working on supporting replicating of data from DB2 z/OS to distributed platforms. Providing on-call support Designs technical solutions and prepare implementation methods to be performed by other DBA team members. Support our Disaster Recovery program across a GDPS, Geographically Dispersed Parallel Sysplex. Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards. Qualifications: Excellent communication skills. College degree in Information Systems or related field, or equivalent work experience.0-1 years of experience in database administration or related IT fields . Skills: Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and maintain DB2 databases in all platforms -z/OS, LUW Knowledge of other distributed databases – SQL server, Oracle , Sybase, Cloud based db etc. – helpful Knowledge of different operating systems , like Windows, Linux, UNIX desirable . Knowledge of DB2 Utilities, Backup, Recovery, Load, Check, REORG, Runstats desirable Knowledge of programming languages helpful (Cobol, Java, SQL, REXX). Knowledge of server configuration , network protocols and network configuration Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments to resolve complex issues with innovative solutions.
