The Opportunity:
The Senior Manager, Third Party Risk Management will develop, oversee, and continuously enhance Symcor’s Third Party Risk Management practice. This role is responsible for establishing a comprehensive framework and set of processes that identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate risks associated with third-party relationships.
As a trusted advisor, the Senior Manager will provide strategic governance and expert guidance for all vendor management initiatives, ensuring that Symcor’s external partnerships are managed in line with organizational risk tolerance and regulatory expectations. This position exists to safeguard Symcor’s interests by proactively identifying potential threats within the vendor ecosystem, driving consistent risk management practices, and supporting the organization’s ability to achieve its business objectives securely and efficiently.
This is a hybrid role with flexible onsite expectations, typically 1 to 2 days per week. New employees are expected to be onsite 2 to 3 times a week during their first three months to support onboarding and collaboration. #LI-Hybrid
About The Role:
TPRM Process, Controls, and Standard Operating Procedures
Develop and document the end-to-end third party risk management process, including onboarding, due diligence, ongoing monitoring, and offboarding.
Lead the creation and continuous improvement of question sets, controls, and documentation aligned to Symcor’s risk appetite and client obligations.
Collaborate with business units to ensure process integration, provide training, and drive adoption using change management principles.
Maintain compliance with internal policies and external regulatory standards.
Third Party Risk Dashboard and Management Reporting
Build and maintain management dashboards to provide real-time visibility into Symcor’s third party risk profile.
Present findings and updates to the Risk Audit Committee and Senior Leadership Team.
Synthesize multiple data sources to produce actionable insights and fact-based reporting on non-compliance or emerging risks.
Governance and Vendor Management Framework
Establish and lead a Vendor Management Center of Excellence to support a hybrid operating model across Symcor.
Design and operationalize governance frameworks for centralized and decentralized vendor management.
Lead ongoing performance and issue management discussions with key vendors and internal risk owners.
Collaborate with Sales to provide TPRM artifacts and documentation in support of business pursuits.
Audit and Compliance
Manage audit requests from internal, client, and external parties, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
Clearly delineate between first-line and second-line risk ownership in responses.
Maintain audit-ready documentation and toolsets.
People Leadership
Lead, coach, and develop team members to ensure operational excellence and professional growth.
Monitor performance, maintain development plans, and ensure effective team coverage.
Foster an inclusive, collaborative team culture that supports continuous improvement.
What You Need to Succeed:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, Finance, or a related field required.
Professional designations such as CRMP, CAMS, CISSP, or CISM are considered strong assets.
Postgraduate education or certifications in Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) are preferred.
Experience:
10+ years of progressive experience in Third Party Risk Management, Procurement, or Operational Risk, including 3+ years in a leadership capacity.
Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise-level TPRM frameworks, policies, and controls.
Demonstrated success developing and presenting executive-level risk reporting and dashboards.
Strong background in regulatory compliance (e.g., OSFI, SOC2, PCI DSS, ISO 27001, etc.).
Experience managing vendor relationships in hybrid or decentralized environments.
Skill requirements
Deep understanding of third party risk frameworks, regulatory expectations, and operational resilience principles.
Exceptional analytical and data visualization skills with proficiency in tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and align across all levels of the organization.
Strong leadership, coaching, and team development capabilities.
Proactive mindset with the ability to anticipate emerging risks and regulatory trends.
Proven ability to drive adoption of new processes through structured change management.
