The Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Officer is a key contributor to the growth and sustainability of Work Integrated Learning at Bow Valley College, with a primary focus on expanding partnerships with private industry across diverse sectors for the Chiu School of Business.
Reporting to the Manager, Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Services, this role will support the Business + Higher Education Roundtable (BHER) funded initiative. This role will actively promote and engage new private industry partners in the Business Package Capstones along with other WIL formats. The WIL Officer will work closely with academic partners to ensure a positive and seamless experience for faculty, students, and industry partners by securing partners, coordinating projects, organizing presentation events and preparing students for successful WIL. This role also carries the responsibility to work collaboratively in developing growth and sustainability plans, maintaining data integrity, and ensuring accurate and timely Funder reporting.
Relationship Building and Liaison
Meets specific industry milestones and targets identified throughout the BHER initiative.
Works closely with our industry collaborators who have agreed to support this initiative.
Researches, develops, and implements and strategic outreach plan..
Develops a lead generation process between faculty and other internal staff.
Secures new industry partnerships for Business Package WIL Projects and make referrals for other WIL types across the college.
Builds WIL opportunities - co-development to meet workforce needs aligned with WIL programs.
Coordination of Work Integrated Learning Projects
Creates a seamless end-to-end process, keeping in mind the user experience for faculty, students, industry partners and industry collaborators.
Coordinates the projects and as the main liaison between the multiple faculty partners, students, and organizations.
Trains stakeholders on the capstone software platform, Riipen.
Troubleshoots and supports Riipen platform users.
Coordinates projects, communication flows, confirmations.
Organizes and hosts final WIL project presentations with a networking component between students, faculty and industry partners.
Devises the plan for sustainability, growth and expansion of Capstone WIL beyond the BHER initiative.
Consistently monitors, identifies areas for improvement, adjusts and improves.
Student Preparation
Prepares students for a successful WIL experience and be graduate ready.
Develops and executes sessions aligned with WIL outcomes.
Develops and executes sessions for students to be graduate ready with LinkedIn, resume and interview.
Prepares students for their final presentation and networking event.
Data Management and Reporting
Creates survey and feedback activities that align with BHER deliverables.
Ensures survey participation targets are met.
Collects, compiles and reviews feedback for reporting, assessment and improvement.
Completes accurate and timely funder reporting, Riipen reporting, and others upon request.
Other Duties in related area as assigned
Required qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, plus 3 years of related work experience.
Applicable work experience in business development, student placement, human resources, and/or career development - a related setting where skills and expertise required have been demonstrated.
An equivalent combination of directly related education and experience may be considered
Please note this is a project role to March 31, 2027 and is contingent to funding.
