Your Opportunity
Stantec’s Electrical team is hiring an Electrical Engineer in Training to join our growing team. A background in mining or heavy industrial and processing sectors is preferred. The successful candidate would primarily be supporting mining work, with the opportunity to support projects across all of Energy & Resources. This is role is for a full-time position.
Your Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will work within a multidisciplinary team of design and engineering professionals to deliver projects. You will be a key member of the electrical team working with various clients in completing feasibility studies and detailed engineering projects.
You will be responsible for applying engineering knowledge and professional judgement acquired through experience to plan, size, evaluate, select, and specify electrical systems in accordance with relevant codes, standards and industry best practices. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include conducting field investigations, carrying out detailed planning studies, preparing design calculations, authoring technical reports, supporting the development of construction packages (drawings and technical specifications), estimating construction costs, monitoring and supporting construction, participating in commissioning, and contributing to business development activities. You should be capable of working independently with support from team members and with a reflective mindset and a willingness to challenge both personal and teamwork.

Conduct basic interpretations of drawings, codes, and other similar materials.
Works with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project under the direction of a senior engineer/designer.
Performs field work as directed by a senior engineer/designer.
Assists with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions.
Work as a contributing team member within a multi-discipline team.
Understand and work within Stantec's quality control guidelines.
As a member of the electrical team, your primary duties will include:
Power system design and analysis in accordance with applicable codes for surface and underground mining operations.
Incorporation of innovation, optimization, and standardization in designs as appropriate considering constructability and economics.
Drafts basic technical documents under the direction of a senior engineer/designer.
Preparation of quality reports and calculation packages as project deliverables.
Performs calculations to analyze and design individual electrical system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
Development and completion of power systems analysis models using ETAP, EasyPower and/or SKM.
