Job Description: Reporting to the Manager of Mental Health and Addiction Services, the incumbent is responsible for the screening and coordination of initial service requests for all programs within Mental Health and Addictions Services in the former health region. The Intake Facilitator provides screening, triage, assessments for urgency/risk, and coordinates case assignments. The position facilitates crisis response and short-term support for services to clients presenting with a variety of mental health and addictions issues. The Intake Facilitator provides consultation to Community Agencies and Programs regarding services available in Mental Health and Addiction Services. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement"

Experience Experience working with mental health and addictions clients Education Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Licenses Valid Class 5 driver's license Other Education and Training Bachelor of Social Sciences is acceptable Psychiatric Nursing diploma is acceptable Bachelor of Nursing is acceptable Bachelor of Addictions Counseling is acceptable Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing is acceptable Competencies Advanced - Communication skills Basic - Crisis management skills Intermediate - Computer skills Advanced - Interpersonal skills Advanced - Organizational skills Basic - Assessment skills Intermediate - Time management skills Knowledge and Abilities Knowledge in appropriate systems theory and interventions Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team Knowledge in legal requirements set forth by provincial regulatory bodies Knowledge of community programs/services Knowledge of local human service organizations, resources & referral procedures Ability to act professionally, ethically and provide sound judgement Knowledge of crisis and suicide intervention and prevention programs Knowledge and practical application of the Mental Health Services Act Knowledge in various mental disorders, etiology, treatment and intervention Ability to triage cases Knowledge of normal and abnormal development Knowledge in addiction issues and mental health disorders Knowledge in principles, programs and practices in community mental health care Ability to assess and treat clients as a part of the interdisciplinary MHAS team Ability to work flexible hours Ability to work in a high stress, fast paced work environment with complex cases Knowledge of human growth, development and human behavior.
