Position Purpose Summary: The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is part of a century old tradition to contribute towards building strong communities by helping TSA to give hope to other. Area Team Lead position is a short-term contract position. The successful candidate is responsible for oversight of several Christmas Kettle locations in a given geographical zone area. Zone locations include shopping malls, grocery stores and retail outlets. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties as below: Attend a day of training/orientation on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign. Provide support in getting Kettles to zone locations prior to volunteer arrival at Campaign onset. Ensure all Kettle donations are delivered to secure location at shift completion. Communicate daily issues and supply deficiencies to City/Assistant Coordinator. Orient and remind volunteers on proper Kettle handling and duties as required. Supervise, support and assign (as required) Kettle Volunteers throughout the Campaign. Participate in the recruitment of new volunteers. Visit locations during shift changes and intermittently. Ensure timesheets and mileage reports are submitted accurately and timely (weekly basis). • Remain at the Kettle for the full shift (until relieved), ensuring security of donations received. • Respond to questions/queries from potential donors regarding SA ministries and programs. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT Governance Boards and Councils: n/a Internal: TSA staff members, Kettle campaign team External: Community members FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT: • Collect donations and petite cash and ensure donations are always kept secure. Working Conditions: • Work environment is typically in malls/stores • Standing for long periods will be required and exposure to cold weather Qualifications and Education Requirements: Some high school coursework, completion of high school is an asset. Experience: • A minimum of one year of related experience or working in customer service. • Money handling experience is an asset. • Related experience is an asset. Skills/Capabilities Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities. Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures. Ability to provide an original copy of a Background Check that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required, including Child Check (if appropriate). A Driver’s Abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required. Valid driver’s licence and a reliable vehicle required. Enthusiastic Team Player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Able to lift 9 to 12 kgs (20 – 25 lbs). Strong customer service skills; enjoy liaising and working with people of all ages and abilities. Willingness to be flexible and work well under pressure with daily timelines and changing priorities. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in the handling of donor, volunteer, and organizational information. This is a seasonal fixed term position to December 24, 2025. Hours are 40 per week. Target pay rate is $22.00 per hour. Compensation: The target hiring range for this position is $18.14 to $22.68 with a maximum of $27.22. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
