DEPARTMENT: Employment, Language, and Social Enterprise
POSITION FUNCTION:
Development and/or implementation of appropriate systems, procedures, and standards specific to the Hospital Employees Union (HEU) Training Course
Identify areas for program and curriculum development, and work to develop and improve the program curriculum and learner engagement
Help to identify and respond to emerging program issues and work closely with the Manager in planning solutions
Instructional Support
Assist the Manager in hiring, training and supervising language instructors
Provide support to the language Instructors and act as a coach to language instructional staff
Stay up-to-date and current on instructional theory and methodology including the use of technology
QUALIFICATIONS:
Recognized undergraduate degree and a TESL Canada recognized TESL certificate or a clearly documented equivalent
At least two years of experience teaching ESL to adults
Experience developing and delivering engaging, learner-centred online language learning activities in Moodle.
Knowledge of online teaching and learning and Moodle course design
Working knowledge of Canadian Language Benchmarks, and Portfolio Based Language Assessment (PBLA)
Competent degree of computer literacy using e-mail, word processing programs, and learner management systems.
A current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required
COMPENSATION: $31.26 - $34.56 per hour
HOURS: 5 hours per week. This is a fixed-term contract from January 2, 2026, to April 23, 2027
This position is hybrid (a combination of in-office and work from home). The successful candidate must be able to commute to 304 - 2730 Commercial Dr. Vancouver, British Columbia
BENEFITS: A competitive benefits package is provided with contracts of at least 1 year in length and which offer a minimum of 17.5 hours of work per week.
