Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Emerging Contaminants Leader to join our Canadian operations in Cambridge, Guelph, Waterloo, Toronto, or Ottawa, ON. This position is well-suited for a talented, highly experienced individual who is interested in being a leader and contributing to innovative and challenging projects, including the financial and technical evaluation, design, permitting, and construction stages. Our client base includes a diverse mix of industrial, institutional, and governmental clients. This position is tailored for an individual with leadership experience in site investigation and remediation of PFAS.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Collaboration and mentoring are cornerstones of Geosyntec’s culture. We operate under a sell-manage-do culture, and so we expect that you’d work on challenging technical projects while leveraging your existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities through business development and client management. You may also be asked to take on project management responsibilities, along with staff management and development, and mentoring tasks. Some of the key responsibilities may include:
Business development; including establishing new clients and developing repeat business from existing clients, leading proposal preparation, and implementing a business development plan;
Serving as a subject matter expert for the PFAS Practice Group
Develop proposal strategies and support proposal execution and delivery.
Support our PFAS program nationwide with project pursuits and project delivery.
Support our legal sector on litigation projects involving consulting support, and possibly expert testimony.
Support Geosyntec’s efforts to maintain a leadership position at national and international conferences like RemTEC/ECS and Battelle by participating on organizing committees, chairing sessions, and giving presentations.
Providing strong technical leadership, guidance and mentoring to early and mid-career staff;
Project management, financial management, resource management including planning and implementing investigation and remediation projects, budgeting and budget management, adherence to schedule, quality, client satisfaction, and profitability;
Reporting including preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals;
Preparing for and participating in meetings or negotiations with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties; and
Training: This position requires OSHA/MSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including technical conferences, in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
Education and Licensure
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (civil, chemical, or environmental) or geology, or a related field of study (required)
Advanced degree in a related field of study. (preferred)
Professional licensure (e.g. P.Eng, P.Geo). (required)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
At least 10 years (15+ desirable) of relevant consulting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
Extensive experience of winning and executing projects involving emerging contaminants, including site investigation, characterization, and soil & groundwater remediation (required)
An effective communicator with clients, colleagues, and outside agencies, building effective working relationships, and always aiming to exceed client expectations. (required)
Demonstrated success in the development and management of clients. (required)
Experience leading teams, projects, and early to mid-career professionals. (preferred)
Experience with managing project resources, finances, and schedules.
Strong communication and technical writing skills. (required)
Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
The position is required to work on Canadian and U.S. projects. Therefore, candidates must have the ability to qualify for a U.S. TN visa (Canadian citizenship required) upon hire, paid for by the company.
Valid Canadian driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
