Job Description: POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY: The Salvation Army, a Christian charitable organization, requires a part time Thrift Store worker in Abbotsford – cashier duties, serving customers, sorting/pricing. Must be willing to work Saturdays. Applicants should have casher/customer service/retail exp., able to lift 25 lbs and have cooperative and compassionate attitude. The performance of the job requires continuously standing for long periods of time, frequent twisting, bending, crouching, reaching, pushing and pulling, lifting and kneeling. BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES: The incumbent is responsible for the following range of job duties characteristic, or typical of the job class: • Contributes to meeting store sales budgets by maintaining customer service standards • Implements store layout plans to attract customers including window displays and merchandise displays; ensures attractiveness of the store through “Tidy Maintenance” • Replenishes inventory levels based on Supervisor’s directions • Contributes to the control of inventory by retrieving, sorting, and pricing as per directions; protects the store from inventory shrinkage by close visual monitoring • Contributes to the safety of staff and customers (e.g. snow removal, clear fire exits, no obstacles inside/outside store, cleans spillage and maintains store cleanliness) • Takes responsibility for the accurate completion of all customer transactions including visa, debit, etc. • Performs other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: *NOTE: For some jobs, you may be required to provide validated educational documentation. The successful job applicant will have completed Public School. Experience: Up to three months of prior related experience, including life skills. Required Skills/Knowledge: The performance of the job requires visual monitoring and frequently working with numbers. PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES: The performance of the job requires continuously standing for long periods of time, frequent twisting, bending, crouching, reaching, reaching overhead, pushing and pulling, lifting, kneeling and entering data for transactions. Compensation: The target hiring range for this position is $17.85 to $19.69 with a maximum of $23.63.
