The Senior Director of Major Projects is responsible for strategic oversight and execution of large-scale capital projects, developing project strategies, leading high-performing teams and optimizing resource allocation. This includes managing high-cost, high-complexity initiatives such as transmission lines, generation facilities, and infrastructure upgrades. The role ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality, and regulatory standards.
Key elements of this role include:
Establish direction for major capital projects aligned with corporate objectives.
Develop and implement project governance frameworks and lifecycle processes.
Direct internal and external project managers for large-scale projects.
Oversee planning, design, construction, and commissioning phases.
Manage project budgets, schedules, and risk mitigation strategies.
Ensure compliance with financial, regulatory, and quality assurance standards.
Collaborate with regulatory bodies, contractors, and internal teams.
Maintain strong relationships with community and government stakeholders.
Enforce rigorous safety protocols and quality control measures.
Drive process optimization and lessons learned for future projects.

To thrive in this role, you recognize yourself in most of the following competencies and skills listed below:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or related field.
15+ years of experience in design, construction, operation, and maintenance of energy utility assets.
Proven track record managing multi-million-dollar projects across jurisdictions.
Project Management Professional designation is an asset.
Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with collaborative and approachable management style.
Expertise in project financing, capital planning, contract negotiation, and dispute resolution.
Strong command of regulatory frameworks including environmental, indigenous, and public-sector procurement.
Politically astute with experience engaging government bodies, community stakeholders, boards, and executives.
Strategic thinker with solid decision-making capabilities.
Committed to safety and quality.
