| What we are looking for
The Manager, Emerging Payment Products is a leadership role within the Emerging Payment Products team at Payments Canada, entrusted with both the direct management of a team and the hands-on execution of initiatives. In this capacity, you will lead and mentor a team comprising Senior Product Analyst(s) and Product Manager(s), fostering an environment of product evolution, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Your contributions will be instrumental in advancing Payments Canada’s strategic vision and proactively shaping the future landscape of payments in Canada.
The Emerging Payment Products team is responsible for the comprehensive product management and development of the Real-time Rail (RTR). This includes defining product strategy, overseeing the entire product lifecycle from conceptualization to launch and ongoing enhancement. This includes collaborating with cross-functional teams and aligning and reconciling their respective roadmaps with the product roadmap.This includes collaborating cross-functional teams, ensuring integration and alignment of the individual roadmaps of these diverse teams with the overarching product roadmap.
Beyond the RTR, the team is tasked with exploring and evaluating emerging payment concepts that hold the potential to transform payments while meeting the needs of the ecosystem. You’ll work closely with the Research team, identifying new and emerging payment trends. This will involve conducting in-depth analyses to pinpoint areas of opportunity for forward-looking product development, ensuring that our offerings remain at the forefront of the evolving payments landscape. You will collaborate to translate research findings into actionable insights, driving the strategic direction of our emerging payments product portfolio.
| A day in the life
Your responsibilities as the Manager, Emerging Payments Products will include but are not limited to:
Strategic Vision and Execution:
Driving the phases of product development and overseeing the entire product lifecycle from idea to post-launch analysis.
Analyze existing data and actively shape the direction of key product development and management files from their earliest stages.
Successfully drive product strategy and big-picture thinking, operating with a high degree of autonomy.
Play a pivotal role in the annual corporate planning cycle, actively contributing to the strategic direction of Emerging Payment Products.
Relationship Management:
Proactively building and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with internal divisions, members, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders.
Represent Payments Canada as the Real-Time Rail (RTR) and Emerging Payments Subject Matter Expert (SME).
Lead and coordinate ideation, special assignment or issue resolution workshops, as required.
Improve and optimize processes, foster relationships with cross functional teams.
Team Leadership:
Mentoring, coaching, and providing constructive feedback to direct reports, strategically defining and managing team capacity.
Establish and champion best practices and consistent standards for product documentation and overall team discipline.
Serve as the primary escalation point for team-related issues, cross-functional conflicts, and resource constraints.
| What you need to be successful
Undergraduate degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or a related discipline.
Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience in product management, strategic business analysis, or leading end-to-end product services development, with a demonstrated track record of successfully launching products or initiatives, including five (5) years in a leadership capacity.
Proven aptitude and demonstrated experience in identifying market opportunities, developing mutli-year strategies, and building scalable solutions to address user needs.
Strong familiarity with the payments landscape and emerging payment technologies, including real-time payments, digital currencies, and mobile payment solutions. This encompasses an understanding of their technical architectures, use cases, and potential impact on financial services, as well as current market trends, regulatory changes, and competitive forces.
Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with a track record of leading, executing, and delivering impactful cross-functional and cross-industry initiatives.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and often ambiguous environment, demonstrating an entrepreneurial and collaborative spirit from conception to completion.
Experience in developing strategic initiatives and creating detailed roadmaps.
Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and mentor individuals, including objective setting, providing feedback, and facilitating career development discussions.
Experience working in a matrix environment is a strong asset, showcasing the ability to navigate complex organizational structures and collaborate effectively across various teams and departments.
Eligibility to successfully complete background checks that will be carried out by Payments Canada, including criminal, credit, identity, employment, and education checks.
| Salary range
Based on qualifications and experience: $112,364 and $140,455.
