Pay Rate (Hourly): Probationary: $27.86 – After 480 Hours: $30.08 – After 2080 Hours: $33.69
Work Schedule: Full-time, up to 40 hours per week. Tuesday to Saturday, 12:30 pm to 9:00 pm.

Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Manager, Maintenance and Capital Assets and the Lead Hand, the Handyperson will perform a wide variety of tasks, including minor carpentry, plumbing and lock repair to all buildings on the Victoria University campus.
Qualifications Required:
Education
Secondary school diploma.
Experience
Minimum 5 years as a handyperson in the ICI sector. Demonstrated experience with drywall, painting and minor carpentry and plumbing repairs.
Other
Considerable knowledge of the practices, methods, materials and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of institutional buildings.
Ability to work in a fast paced customer service oriented atmosphere and work with other trades to achieve departmental goals.
Must possess good communication skills.
Duties:
From work orders derived from the computerized maintenance system, verbal or written instructions from the manager or Lead Hand, instructions received from a cellphone, or through building inspections the handyperson must work in a safe manner using tools common to the trade and the proper personal protection and procedures to perform the following:
Provide handyperson services to the University in a professional manner. Assist other trades when required.
Assist grounds staff in the maintenance of the campus grounds including but not limited to, snow shoveling, shrub bed cultivation, recycling and garbage pick up.
Other duties related to the business of the university as required.
Mechanical rooms can be noisy, hot and dusty. There can be vibration, roof tops can be hot and cold. Required to push, pull, crawl and bend. Heavy lifting, climbing ladders and elevated platform work required.
Perform housekeeping duties as required to maintain a safe working environment.
Attend training courses and/or seminars pertaining to safety, customer service, trade updates or any other courses the employer deems as a benefit to the employee or the university.
