Position Summary:
The Human Resources Manager plays a key leadership role in fostering a positive, high-performing culture at Deerhurst Resort. Working in conjunction with the Senior Director, HR and overseeing the HR & Housing Coordinator, the HR Manager will oversee all aspects of day to day HR operations including recruitment, training, host engagement, health and safety, and compliance. Acting as a trusted partner to resort leadership and hosts, the HR Manager ensures that the host’s experience aligns with the resort’s commitment to excellence in guest service and operational success
Duties & Responsibilities:

Oversee the recruitment process across all departments, ensuring consistent, high-quality experience for candidates and hiring managers.

Establish and monitor hiring timelines, fill rates, and process efficiency to meet seasonal and operational staffing needs.

Partner with department leaders to forecast workforce requirements and plan ahead for high-volume or hard-to-fill roles.

Ensure recruitment tools, postings, and applicant tracking systems are effectively utilized.

Provide guidance and training to hiring managers on interview techniques, selection, and onboarding best practices

Oversee onboarding and orientation to ensure a welcoming and consistent employee experience.

Serve as the coach and mentor to the HR & Housing Coordinator ensuring that policies, procedures and departmental initiatives are being implemented.

Coordinate employee recognition programs, staff events, and engagement initiatives.

Identify training needs and create opportunities for professional growth and leadership development.

Support department heads in performance management and coaching.

Ensure compliance with all employment laws, regulations, and company policies.

Manage workplace health and safety programs, incident reporting, and return-to-work plans.

Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR documentation.

Working alongside the Payroll & Benefits Manager, support in the oversight of payroll task completion, benefits administration, and additional time & attendance tracking and reporting.

Support the Senior HR Director in budgeting and workforce planning with accurate data and forecasting.

Manage all aspects of the immigration and work permit process for international staff.

Collaborate with government agencies, immigration consultants, and legal advisors to ensure compliance with federal and provincial immigration requirements.

Prepare and submit documentation for Labour Market Impact Assessments (LMIAs), work permit applications, and renewals.

Track visa timelines, monitor compliance, and maintain accurate records of international staff status.
Qualifications:

Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.

Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in hospitality, tourism, or resort operations.

Experience managing immigration or international hiring processes (LMIA, work permits, etc.).

Strong knowledge of employment standards, health & safety, and HR best practices.

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

Proven ability to build relationships and influence at all levels of the organization.

Proficient with HRIS and applicant tracking systems.
