Job Type: Permanent THE POSITION Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Reliability Specialist will play a key role in advancing asset performance and reliability across the Fort Saskatchewan facility. This role will lead and support initiatives aligned with Keyera’s Asset Management and Reliability (AMR) strategy, focusing on proactive maintenance, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will collaborate across disciplines to optimize equipment life cycles, reduce unplanned downtime, while enhancing safety and sustainability. RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the development and continuous improvement of equipment reliability strategies, aligned with Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) principles. Identify and mitigate “bad actors” through data analysis, risk-based prioritization, and cross-functional collaboration. Champion predictive and condition-based maintenance programs using advanced technologies such as: Vibration and oil analysis (mechanical and motors) Ultrasonics, thermography Power quality and motor circuit analysis (PDMA) Wireless sensor networks and IIoT platforms Facilitate Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and implement corrective actions for continuous improvement to prevent recurrence. Monitor and report on core reliability metrics of Operational Availability, Capacity Utilization, Production loss while utilizing our CMMS with data on MTBF, MTTR, asset utilization, failure rates, lifecycle costs. Collaborate with Projects and Operations Engineering to ensure maintainability and reliability of newly installed or modified equipment. Lead and Stakeholder for Management of Change (MOC) processes and Project Delivery Systems (PDS) related to implementing reliability improvements, ensuring all modifications are properly assessed, documented, and executed in alignment with site standards. Develop and maintain life-cycle asset management plans for critical equipment, integrating digital tools and analytics. Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to develop and optimize asset care strategies. Support Operational Excellence (OE) 4.2 – Proactive Maintenance & Integrity, ensuring equipment reliability and regulatory compliance. Lead updates to maintenance procedures, job plans, and PM/PdM scopes in alignment with current best practices. Analyze historical and real-time data to identify and implement reliability improvement opportunities. Provide technical support for troubleshooting and performance optimization of rotating, static, instrumentation, and electrical assets. Maintain and continuously improve equipment criticality rankings and risk profiles. Support digital transformation initiatives including CMMS optimization (e.g., Maximo), data analytics/dashboards, and integration with Operations Engineers and Specialist. QUALIFICATIONS Professional Engineer or Technologist with 7+ years of experience in reliability, maintenance, or asset management in oil and gas, petrochemical, or refining environments. OR Journeyperson (Millwright or Electrician preferred) with 10+ years of plant site experience in reliability or maintenance leadership roles. Expert understanding of equipment design, failure modes, and degradation mechanisms for rotating, static, instrumentation, and electrical assets. Demonstrated experience in implementing and managing predictive maintenance programs and technologies. Proficiency in CMMS platforms (Maximo preferred), with experience in data analysis and work management. Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to influence without authority across diverse teams. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a continuous improvement mindset. Familiarity with ESG and sustainability principles as they relate to asset reliability and lifecycle management.
