What you can expect to do here:
Lead field survey crews in the collection of topographic, boundary, construction, and control data
Interpret project plans, legal descriptions, and survey requirements to plan daily field activities
Operate and maintain survey equipment including GNSS receivers, total stations, and data collectors
Ensure accuracy and completeness of field data and documentation
Collaborate with office staff to process data and resolve discrepancies
Train and supervise junior crew members, fostering a culture of safety and technical excellence
Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and clients
Provide field notes, sketches, and digital records in accordance with company standards
What you’ll bring to WSP:
Minimum 5 years of experience in land surveying, with at least 2 years in a party chief role
Proficiency in modern survey equipment and software (e.g., Trimble, Leica, Civil 3D, MicroSurvey)
Strong understanding of geodetic principles, boundary analysis, and construction layout
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites (5-10%)
Chainsaw experience and training is an asset
Willingness to travel for short duration projects out of town.
Willingness to work in all weather conditions
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Graduate of Centre of Geographic Science (COGS), EIT designation, or equivalent is an asset
