Reporting to the Supervisor, Criminal Registry, the Juridical Officer, Criminal (JOC) provides courtroom and registry services for the Nunavut Court of Justice. The position delivers courtroom clerking and simultaneous digital recording services, maintains complete records of court proceedings, and issues documents and orders resulting from court decisions. Acting as an Officer of the Court, the JOC protects the rights of accused persons and litigants by ensuring that court processes are conducted accurately and in accordance with legislation such as the Criminal Code of Canada, Young Offenders Act, Corrections Act, and other applicable statutes, rules, and directives.
