NATURE AND SCOPE:
This position is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of facilities, buildings and common areas. The role is essential for maintaining a safety, healthy and pleasant environment for employees, the client, visitors and residents. The Janitor/Housekeeper performs a variety of cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and disinfecting surfaces as well as handling waste disposal and maintaining cleaning equipment.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Clean and sanitize restrooms including toilets, sinks, mirrors, showers, floors using appropriate cleaning agents and equipment.
- Sweep, mop and vacuum floors in hallways, corridors, offices, bedroom facilities, common rooms, exercise areas to remove dirt, dust and debris.
- Empty trash cans and recycling bins, replace liners and needed and dispose of waste in designated areas.
- Dust and wipe down surfaces including desks, tables, chairs, windowsills and fixtures to remove dirt, dust fingerprints and smudges.
- Clean and polish glass surfaces, such as windows, doors and mirrors using glass cleaner and lint-free cloths.
- Restock supplies such as hand soap, paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags in restrooms and common areas.
- Montor and maintain cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers and mops, ensuring they are in good working condition
- Adhere to sanitation standards and regulations, including those related to the handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Assist with special cleaning projects, such as deep cleaning carpets, stripping and waxing floors or cleaning up after events or renovations.
- Ensure all cleaning work duties are completed daily in accordance with deadlines
- Escalate any maintenance and/or safety issues to the supervisor as necessary for resolution
- Performs general housekeeping of rooms – changing/providing linens, make beds and ensure that rooms are neat, tidy and welcoming for guest or occupants
- Responds to colleague’s and other onsite enquiries and requests in a professional and prompt manner
- Identifies any concerns to supervisor immediately
- Perform other duties/projects as assigned, to support the overall program and mission, and other initiatives of Nasittuq
WHAT WE OFFER:

Fly-In Fly-Out Schedule: 8 weeks on site, 8 weeks off site rotation. Travel from home to site is paid from any location in Canada, with overnight stays in Thule, Greenland, as required.

Comprehensive Benefits: Health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance, plus employer-matched pensions up to 6%.

Competitive Compensation: Hourly rate of $28.26 -$29.75, 48-hour workweeks (Monday–Saturday), and opportunities for overtime. Additional $27 daily isolation allowance while on site.

Vacation Pay: 6% vacation pay on every paycheck.
